Jimmy Hocking Insurance???
I was cruising along the Delaware/Maryland coast last week and on the radio was a commercial for some insurance company with a live version of Jimmy playing Fruitcakes with the government related references in it which were I wish I could remember the company's name, but I'll bet it wasn't "authorized" by Jimmy's camp. I doubt he needs the money enough to whore out his music and I'd bet that doesn't fall under fair use.
Any other "questionable" Buffett sightings out there?

It could just be the long-rumored Margaritaville insurance package for those of us that qualify for "senior discounts".........

Well, yesterday at Costco there was an entire Margaritaville display of T shirts, flip flops and shoes. I'm sure Jimmy wouldn't condone that decision.

Oh hell. Yes, you're right. "Hocking" it to pawn something. "Hawking" is to peddle something. I was close. I even looked the darn word up real quick before posting this and still managed to get it wrong.Snowparrot wrote:and you probably mean "hawking" ...

Technically, I'm a translator, although I have been an editor at times, and a large part of my regular job is editing other translators' work (we call it revision, not editingspartan1979 wrote:Where does one get that job?Snowparrot wrote:True: I look stuff up for a living.
I have a very special "summer job": I really do look stuff up, and then I write about it. I write tips and articles and "linguistic reminders" for our language Website, the Language Portal of Canada: http://www.noslangues-ourlanguages.gc.ca/index-eng.php.
Today was one of those days when I just looked stuff up without actually creating anything.... that will happen soon!

Since you do a lot of editing, perhaps you'll appreciate this. At my office, people always bring stuff needing to be edited to me asking my to "Proof" it. My boss appreciates my abilities in this area, so she sent me to a "Proofreading" class to enhance my abilities for editing others people's writings. I do as I'm told and it was a boring couple of days.Snowparrot wrote:Technically, I'm a translator, although I have been an editor at times, and a large part of my regular job is editing other translators' work (we call it revision, not editingspartan1979 wrote:Where does one get that job?Snowparrot wrote:True: I look stuff up for a living.). I work for Canada's Parliament, preparing the printed version of the Debates that is published every day during the session.
