The Noles looked great waxing Miami. And it's always good to see the Gators lose.

Last years trip to Mad-Town (thanks to John aka Cheesehead in Paradise) was a great one!
Thanks for any help BN'ers! 8) 8)
Last minute preparations are in order as I prepare to head south tomorrow to Columbia South Carolina to meet up with Jason (PHnSC) & watch his Gamecocks take on the mighty Crimson Tide of Alabama.
Looking forward to seeing how they do up gameday in GameCock Land!!!
Here's hoping that #1 in the land goes down & an all night party ensues in the streets of South Carolina's state capital!! 8) :pirate: 8)
Mission accomplished! Jason says I have been adopted as the official Gamecock "Good Luck" charm.

Did anyone follow the Ole Miss new mascot selection? The selected a bear but a "Land Sharkl" was one fo the choices..

REBEL LAND SHARK
The Rebel Land Shark concept is based on a tradition begun by the late Rebel football player Tony Fein, whose “Fins Up” hand motion has already caught fire with Rebel fans. The Rebel Land Shark would be a living embodiment of this tradition, complete with a shark head and fin. The Land Shark is a result of an organic movement on campus and would be unique to the Ole Miss Rebels. The Rebel family has already embraced the Land Shark, making it a big part of the football game-day experience, and the Land Shark has begun to spread to other sports, too. The Rebel Land Shark loves to wear the Rebel “red & blue” and when any Ole Miss team has a big play, the Land Shark enjoys dancing to the “Jaws” theme song. He is a very friendly character – except when someone challenges any Rebel athletics team.

Per the announcers midgame Nebraska-Texas, BCS predicting Boise State to be #1 this week. Really? Yes, I am a Sooners fan and yes, they skunked us with trick plays before. But something seems really wrong to me this year. Look at this schedule. I already know schedules are pre-set. But where are the powerhouses? What data supports a pending #1 ranking with all the other great teams, including Nebraska, Texas, OU, Alabama, Florida, even Oregon teams? Me no like BCS rankings. It seems like it is just a moot point working toward a national championship these days. It's not the toughest team...just the one some computer program chose. It sux and I hate it. And I hate it even if OU is not even in the top 20, so that is not my issue.

BOISE STATE says Thank You!!!!!!!
USA Today:
Boise State is expected to land in the top spot when the initial Bowl Championship Series standings are released Sunday.

The Broncos are No. 3 in the polls but their schedule is rated more difficult than those of the other Top 5 teams, which gives them an edge in the computers that form one-third of the BCS formula. Please see my previous posting of the Boise State schedule. BS fans, please don't be haters, just explain which teams you oppose are the toughest competitors in the nation. I'm an avid fan and I really don't know much about any of the opposing teams, which tells me they've been under my championship radar for a long time.

Harder than Texas (not ranked in the top 25) vs. Nebraska (#5), who got whipped by UT?

Yeah, 1-5 San Jose State is a real powerhouse.

Your honor, I rest my case. Somebody else should get the top seed and I don't mean OU.

I've been following college football all my life, which is more years than I intend to announce here...never have been so disappointed by rankings before. What's the point? Am I missing something?

This is the BCS rankings as of NOW. As the season progresses Boise's strength of schedule will decline in comparison to BCS schools. HOWEVER, if those BCS schools keep losing....................

first of all even though I live in Boise.. I am first and formost
a Miami "Cane fan..
here are a few thoughts..

the BSU crew could play with any team in the NCAA for one
game.. you do not have any idea what plays they will run.. none
and that is hard to prep for..
the Broncos would have a tough time with the speed of say a Florida State or Miami.. and/or the size of an Ohio State BUT I do think
on a one game basis.. all bets are off

just say'n..

and to add to that.. I saw a better tailgate in the Parking lot of MSG
last year than most of the Tailgate action I saw at BSU the times I went to games..

OSU over Texas Tech for the first time since 1944. Keep an eye on coach Mike Gundy, this team may surprise folks in a few years. It will be an interesting bedlam game between them and OU this year. I remember when he was their quarterback...

Can someone please explain why I can't see the mighty Boise State on TV? All the prime-time games or main Saturday afternoon games on the major networks aren't showing this perhaps number one or two ranked team...how come?

Oh yeah, perhaps because they play no one of importance and most people with any common sense realize they are a fraud and only excelling by manipulating the system.

Hoping for a Boise State, Oregon or TCU BCS championship...why? Because it'll be the lowest rated ever and I wonder if it'll even sell out ticket wise.

I think that a rule should be in place where no team can play for the national championship if there isn't at least one other team from their conference in the top 20.

Cheers

I enjoyed watching The Ohio State go down. Way to go Badgers! All week long there was talk of it and voila...it happened.
Also great seeing the Gators making it three straight. Not so great watching the Noles almost blow it.

Needless to say, this should shake up the ratings a bit.
