Dear JJ,

Please go have a long hard talk with Coach Sherman. Tell him you are no longer effective as our quarterback and you want to step down.

Thank you,
I must be wishing on someone else's star....

wiscoleeds wrote:Can someone please explain why I can't see the mighty Boise State on TV? All the prime-time games or main Saturday afternoon games on the major networks aren't showing this perhaps number one or two ranked team...how come?

Oh yeah, perhaps because they play no one of importance and most people with any common sense realize they are a fraud and only excelling by manipulating the system.

Hoping for a Boise State, Oregon or TCU BCS championship...why? Because it'll be the lowest rated ever and I wonder if it'll even sell out ticket wise.

I think that a rule should be in place where no team can play for the national championship if there isn't at least one other team from their conference in the top 20.

Cheers
Wiscoleeds
Nevermind the fact that they have already played and beat several ranked teams huh?

No system that doesn't include a playoff is ever gonna be good enough.

USA Today:
Boise State is expected to land in the top spot when the initial Bowl Championship Series standings are released Sunday.

The Broncos are No. 3 in the polls but their schedule is rated more difficult than those of the other Top 5 teams, which gives them an edge in the computers that form one-third of the BCS formula. Please see my previous posting of the Boise State schedule. BS fans, please don't be haters, just explain which teams you oppose are the toughest competitors in the nation. I'm an avid fan and I really don't know much about any of the opposing teams, which tells me they've been under my championship radar for a long time.

Harder than Texas (not ranked in the top 25) vs. Nebraska (#5), who got whipped by UT?

Yeah, 1-5 San Jose State is a real powerhouse.

Your honor, I rest my case. Somebody else should get the top seed and I don't mean OU.

I've been following college football all my life, which is more years than I intend to announce here...never have been so disappointed by rankings before. What's the point? Am I missing something?

First of all I agree that BSU's schedule has dogs, but that is the conference we are in.
Secondly, if you start to look at those teams a little more you see some shared things:

Utah State from our WAC conference damn near beat your OK team in Oklahoma (you only won by 7?). That should have been a 40 point blow out.

Alabama plays that same San Jose State team, they put up 48 on them, and they
actually played their starters longer and played them at home and gave up 3 points (I know it is a stretch, but yet Boise State shuts them out 48-0, in San Jose and pulled starters at the half.)

Fresno State beats U of Cincinatti in Cin.(the Big East champ and in a AQ conference for a BCS game).
The same Cincy team who almost beat that one team again... oh yes it was Oklahoma! (you only won by 2?)

So you have a team who barely beats Utah State at home, and barely beats a team that lost to a team that is average in our conference. To me those wins by Oklahoma give them no reason to spout scheduling issues. A #1 team should have waxed those inferior teams.

Boise State will beat both of those teams by at least 35.

All in all, our schedule sucks, but we can play with and beat anybody. You can also get dizzy throwing schedule talk of "they beat them and so they should beat them and not beat them..."

I agree, rankings are a joke and there needs to be a playoff. And the Big East being an AQ conference? Give me a break.

I always laugh when I hear these claims that one school or another doesn't play a tough enough schedule and then you look at the ones that supposedly do and they play less than 50% of their games against teams that have won a third of their games in the last year. Or the folks who say that when a school who isn't from an automatic berth conference trounces someone who is, that the losing team wasn't up to play an undefeated non-BCS team in a bowl game. Frankly, a playoff system is the only way to resolve these arguments. I look at Utah and their defeats of Penn and Bama. Both wins were decisive and Utah finished both seasons undefeated and certainly could and should have competed for one of the top four spots however since they are (not for much longer) a non-BCS team, they weren't given the chance to play Auburn. Instead they were tossed a team that had lost at least one game. I expect that if BSU and TCU both go undefeated this year, that the BCS will find some way not to give them a fair shot at the championship because these teams are outsiders. In the last decade BCS teams are not playing tougher schedules nor are they playing better football. IMHO, the BCS should be taken apart and replace with a playoff system. And for what it's worth, my school is the University of Arizona, a BCS team.

Texas lost!
Oklahoma lost!
Kansas St. lost!

A good weekend in the Big 12 if you ask me!

I also love the melt down of Mack Brown during the post game press conference. "I can't trust the team and I can't trust the coaches"

The SEC owns the NC the last few years. It probably safe to say it gets no tougher than there right now.

Just keep on rolling.

and Boise and TCU need to man up and join real conferences like Utah is doing or suffer the effects of your poor schedule and cry about getting jumped.

and I think MSU will run the table and get shut out of the BCS......and then the alarms will really start going off.

Yes, because it is all about "man-ing" up. Has nothing to do with being invited.
BSU has been improving their conferences since joining 1AA in 95. Joined the MWC this year (which would shell the Big East, an AQ conference) with the likes of TCU, Utah and BYU, but they are all jumping ship now.

Are you saying MSU will get shut out due to unbeatens Auburn/Oregon/Missouri or an unbeaten Boise State/TCU/Utah?

Also, there are various criteria regarding "manning up" to move to a different coference.
