I'm sure someone here can give you an entire history lesson in Texas college football and the religious institutions. Many of them date back to segragation and some schools, (like Baylor and El Paso) were Christian colleges that were swallowed up in college football's required new institutions.

As for the rest of the Big Ten...thanks for letting the whole conference down...and as I've stated all along Michigan State what a bunch of pretenders. Lucky all season and finally today their luck run out.
Cheers

PS Oh and Boise State...I'm not sure what bowl they even played in or if they won. I'm guessing they must have played about a week or so ago in a 11:30 EST kickoff game on ESPN the ocho...the Depends Adult Diaper Bowl?
Wow. Spoken like a true homer. Bottom line Wisco- SCORE BOARD!

BTW Wisco- TCU showed class in mentioning Boise as a worthy competitor as a small school in a big $$$$$ system.

Congratulations to Jimbo Fisher and the FSU program for a Chick-Fil-A Bowl victory and a 10 win season and, so far, the #3 recruiting class in the nation.
Go Noles!

The Big Ten just looked overmatched in several games today. If anybody should not have an automatic bid to a BCS bowl, maybe it should be them.[/quote]
Ever since Penn State joined the Big Ten (or Eleven, or whatever....) I felt this was a mediocre conference compared to many others. For example, how many times must we endure the almost annual implosion by Michigan?
Many laughed at UConn playing Oklahoma in the Fiesta, but quite honestly they played a better game than most of the Big Ten teams on New Year's Day, didn't they?
The whole bowl season remains a joke.......we need a playoff system to determine the National Champion, not a "payoff" system like we have now.....

Love Wisky D#$# talking trash after they lost to TCU. Everyone know their coach is a DBAG who ran up the score on the school for the blinds to get into the Rose Bowl. They didnt deserve to be there

WHO deserved to be there???? MSU????
At least Badgers showed up for their bowl game (a little bit)....unlike a couple other Big Ten teams we know about!
Plus, if it makes you feel any better, I think DBAG as you call him got out-coached & cost his team a chance for the win.

Agreed, he got out coached. Petersen from BSU would out coach him too.
BTW Wisco, we were winning our bowl game against our opponent (Utah)...
Must really s*** to lose to a team that has a schedule consisting of "Little Sisters of the Poor" and has no business even being in the BCS talk. Funny thing is, this TCU team was not as good as the one that made the BCS bowl game last year when they lost (to who?). To say your glad Wisconsin covered the spread? True Homer-ism right there.

Agreed Ed....
I'm a Big 10 guy and liked the conference even before Penn State joined in 1990. I think the games doing the season can be as good as any games in the country.
I can't for the life of me figure out why it seems the Big 10 plays so poorly in bowl games. I'm not just talking about the great 0-5 New Years Day the conference had this year but as an entire conference over many years. Maybe I'm wrong about this, I did try and find a historical summary but had no luck. Does anyone have an historical summary of Conference bowl records over the last 10, 20, or 50 years? I'd be interested in see that.

Spot on...I won money betting on Wisconsin
And MSU...come on....you were absolutely b**** slapped in your Bowl. Over rated all season long!!!!!
Awww, Boise State...so bitter. Even trying to jump on the TCU bandwagon.
And I loved the imagine of TCU as the downtrodden little guys...yep, $41000 a year for school kinda takes the glimmer off their hardship angle. Also, I did check...they were ranked number 3 going into the game so how were they portrayed as the underdog?
Cheers

Not bitter, just tired of you Homers saying that teams like TCU and BSU (or any team from a non AQ conference) don't deserve to be in the rankings or a BCS bowl because "they don't have a tough enough schedule". Yet when you lose, it is ok because "they were ranked 3rd".
Can't have it both ways.
When does amount of tuition have anything to do with football?

Hold on one minute - you're comparing a medium-sized, Doctoral/Research PRIVATE university vs one of the largest public higher education systems in the country based on the admission costs? Shoot the facility and staff of Wisconsin is about 20k more that the TCU student body.
Sounds to me like you're a poor looser.

Good point...I can't have it both ways. It was a disappointing loss for Wisconsin against a team I felt they could beat. And as they say "excuses are for losers". Thankfully, I haven't offered up any reasons or excuses for the Badgers defeat.
To address the underdog point. Among the crowd I watched the game with was someone visiting from Washington who is a Huskie alum and supporter. She was very surprised at what SHE felt was a clear bias by the commentators towards TCU. I just don't think they're story is anywhere near as "big" as it's made out to be....it's no "Remember the Titans".
And Wisconsin really isn't a big power. I can't ever recall Wisconsin even finishing in the top 5 at season end, nevermind having a legacy of success like Michigan, OSU, Alabama, Florida, USC, etc. It's a very good and steady program based on over achievers and work ethic....much like TCU.
And pointing out how over-rated MSU was...well their two biggest games of the year against Iowa and Alabama and they just got trounced. The Iowa game was their final hurdle to a BCS game and Alabama was a prove how wrong everyone was to overlook them...and they were about as successful as the Titanic and Hindenburg were....ouch.
Cheers

I dare to say Jimmy would 100% support the band
Orange Bowl bans the Stanford Band from halftime,
http://rivals.yahoo.com/ncaa/football/b ... aaf-303032
Some bands are precise; some are loud; some are theatrical. The LSJUMB is genuinely fun, if you're the kind of person who considers infuriating almost every school the Cardinal have ever visited (along with at least one nationally syndicated advice columnist) "fun."

A good read-
Pryor’s acts expose charade of college athletics
"Pryor is a godsend to anyone who believes the business of college athletics is little more than a smoke-and-mirror show of situational ethics, selective enforcement and tightly controlled public relations designed to dodge taxes and make millionaires out of administrators.
Perhaps no player has ever exposed the system and its handlers more clearly than Pryor leading into Tuesday’s Sugar Bowl against Arkansas. He may not have consciously planned to do what he’s doing – although I suspect he has a clue – but he’s become a WikiLeaks in shoulder pads; a “30 For 30” special in real time."
