Niagara Falls

Post by Snowparrot »

The Toronto Maple Reefers PHC has received a mysterious commuication that something "special" is happening tonight (Tuesday, August 3) ... might just be an out-of-town band, or it might be Jimmy/Freddy.

I'll be disconnected from my personal email all day, so I won't know until I get home from work, and by then it will be too late ( :( a 9 hour road trip?--I would have had to start a lot earlier!).

Good luck if you go and that's what's really happening.

Our PH club got wind of this last week from the Maple Reefers, but were told they wouldn't know for sure until the day of the show, and we're too far to drive ( 8-10 hrs) away. :( I actually looked into flights but booking less than 2 weeks ahead meant top dollar....over $400 r/t

I was paying attention Snowparrot! Didn't do me much good in IL though... I would have posted it on facebook if I realized others hadn't seen it!

Way cool of Jimmy, and awesome they gave somewhat of a heads up to the club! Sorry to all who couldn't make it!

The local club was told he was coming, just not the day, but was told it would probably happen before August 1st (it didn't) and that they would get less than 24 hours notice to get their members to M'ville. If we had had even 24 hours notice, some of us here in New England probably would've made the trip....I know Dave & Carol, Pam and myself all looked into flights etc....but not knowing when could've meant a week in a hotel plus flights waiting for it to happen....just not possible :(

was it open to the public or VIP?.....when they opened Mohegan Sun.....they had a soft opening VIP party where it was open bar and free food......then a few weeks later they had another with Buffett and the band also free drinks and food......each club officer (NE clubs) were given tickets(actually badges) and could take their spouse or guest

It was a mix of VIP and open. They held all the tables in front of the stage for the clubs and then the general public filled the rest of the place. It was a very well kept secret as there was barely any line to get in right up until Freddy...I mean, Jimmy got there.

Me, Martyritaville, Moe and Caly were front row having gotten in line at 10am!

I'd left Detroit at 3:45am the night before to drive out

very cool.....Mohegan was not so much a secret.....but you had to have the invite to get in...which was officers of Parrothead Clubs in New England.....high rollers.....and sponsors like Landshark......it wasn't overly crowded which was nice....but i'd say the best way to see him in concert.

There was barely any line after he got there too. 25 people max outside trying to get in, of those at least 10 thought it was the line for dinner and had no idea Buffett was there (or even who he was). Was a shame they wouldn't let that small amount of people in. Even PH club members with tags.
