I've never been to Key West for a MOTM or other event. In fact I've only ever gone during the non-tourist times (like July or August),
Always HOT AS HELL ..... but I prefer the more casual aspect of those times. The locals are more laid back ... sort of.
I was able to attend Captain Tony's 85th birthday party in August '01 with mostly locals.
Yeah, from what I have read...it is WICKED hot during July and August. That is the reason why I tend to do October or November. I bet Capt. Tony's party was a blast.
WICKED HOT x10 .... you bet. We used to run the air on COLD the whole 2+ weeks we were there.
Then when our friends returned home, we'd stay one more night to take them to dinner.
When THEY returned, they would TURN OFF THE AC, open all the windows, and then banish us to the guest bedroom upstairs!
Talk about wicked hot! We must have doubled their annual electric bill every year in just those 2 weeks or so we would housesit.
But they kept inviting us back, so I guess it was all okay.
And yes, Captain Tony's birthday party was a blast.

LOL! That is how we tell the tourists. If it is a beautiful day in Maine and your driving around with the windows up, you must be from Mass and have your a/c on.
