Woman Gone crazy on Caroline Street

This has to easily be my FAVORITE Buffett song live. I always thought the original recording was OK, but this song in concert rocks. The guitars, the drums just an awesome live song. Take nothing away from the other songs live, but I would pay to see this one over and over again live. Glad to see it on this year's set list. I don't how others feel about this, most people don't seem to know this song when he plays it live.

There is in fact an alternate version of the studio recording of this song that has a different sound and not as many repeats of chorus.

Here is my take:
Any Buffett song can comfort you during anything that you are going through in your life. As luck would have it, WGCCS happens to be my ring tone for my boss/best friend that is helping me through a lot of stuff right now. Every time I hear it, even as a part of it, I get a big smile on my face. it also reminds me of the days of walking (ok, stumbling) around Key West.
I hear CiA, CIL, I know that I need to laugh or I would lose my mind.
It all comes down to the storytelling and for us, the listener, just getting lost for a few minutes at a time.

I especially like the part in the live version when he sings "...as she slowly guzzled 35 cent beer" then says "it's an old song"!

There was a concert several years ago in ATL at Lakewood which was preceded by Severe Thunderstorm Warnings ... brought traffic to a standstill ... Marta was disabled, etc. and it rained throughout the show. But Jimmy sang this song and was so into it, as was the band, that I remember thinking, this is worth it ... the $150 a ticket is worth it for the memory of hearing WGCOCS that night!
I also remember saying I'd pay somebody $10 for a Clorox wipe for my feet as we got on the shuttle ... mud EVERYWHERE!!!

2 years ago in Mansfield was like that. My ticket was hardly readable since it got so wet. You can insert head hurt and feet stink joke anytime.

One of my favorites too. I don't have a live recording of it. But when that cd is in the player, I'll play that song 5, 6, 7 times in a row. The kids like singing along to it too.

Now that was a memorable experience! How safe is it to be standing out in the open with all that lightning?

I think the venue lost power for a while before the show, but it came back up. After being in all the rain for several hours, I paid for it the following week. I was not feeling well the whole week at w*rk. Totally worth it, tho. That's the type of dedicated fans Jimmy frequently mentions at the shows.
I'm sure they sold a lot of the beach towels that night!

Wow I am glad this thread was started. I too agree. Before Saturday's show I reviewed some of the earlier setlists from this year. I saw that WGCCS was played several times. As this was the first show of the new leg of the tour I was praying he kept in the set list as this is also one of my favorites.
About halfway through the first set when there was that lull between songs I would shout "Caroline Street" (sitting in the fourth row in front of Mr. Utley and Uncle Jim I was sure they could hear me). Yes I know if it wasn't on the set list they wouldn't add it just becase one fan was screaming for it over and over again but it made me feel good!!!!
I started to give up hope as the second set started. Mexico...BOBH (which was awsome in itself)...Creola....ugh. I am thinking he dropped it off the set list and am starting to actually get bummed. SYKBH were played...and played...SOASOAS, APLOF...then Mac with Back Where I Come From..I love this song more and more...I actually get very emotional..take it right to heart. Was looking JB and Mac in the eye whenever they looked stage left pumping my fist every chorus.
Then...right after that lull....POW...JB leads into WGCCS and BAM, POW, BAZINGA I let loose. I WAS losing my voice from singing and screaming thru every song up to now but I reach deep inside me and let out a howl and guess what....if you listen to the lead in, about a one count after the crowd in unison starts to chear you will hear one scream which is obviously closer to the microphone...BN'er friends....NYPH has made the recording!!! My howl...high piched...raspy howl...coming from and 6'5" 260# guy wearing Miami Dolphins Jersey....can be heard on the recording!!! (at least I think it is me LOL)
Sorry for the long post but this was...by far the most electricifying, let loose, and emotional concert for me to date! I hope I didn't bore anyone with my long story....

I totally get your enthusiasm! I went on and on after the Gulf Shores show. It was my first (and I'm sure only) time being front row and it really was exhilirating. When the show was replayed last Sunday on CMT I started flapping around and yelling to my husband, "This is it; this is it!!!" During Bama Breeze, security guards led a very drunk young man down the center aisle directly in front of Jimmy. He changed the words from "drink a few beers down there" to "lose count of the beers you drank down there" or something like that. As they led the guy in front of me, I caught Jimmy's eye and kinda shrugged and put my hands up in a "whatcha gonna do" kind of expression ... He stopped playing guitar for a second and shrugged back...sounds stupid, but it was AWESOME!!!!!!!!!! 35,000 people around and a split second moment between me and the guy I've loved listening to since 1977! Unfortunately the broadcast didn't capture the shrug, but you can hear the smile in his voice. Anyway, I'm glad your moment WAS captured on the audio and you can replay it!!!
