You're an ass.
I've been called worse.

Well for me the drive to work hit home BUT not because I drive through "downtown" but because I drive through the Lancaster County PA country side. Here's some typical views many of us see as we start our days...pretty hard to beat this in my book.

My mother and I won a trip to NYC back in '98 for the NBA All-Star basketball game. We stayed at the Hilton Towers near W 54th Street (included in the prize), and on Sunday we went to Mass at St. Patrick's Cathedral and then walked over to Rockefeller Center. It was early February so the tree was down, of course, but we did get to see the famed ice rink beneath the statue of Prometheus. After having seen it on TV, WERE WE DISAPPOINTED!!! We couldn't believe how small it actually was; only about 2/3 the size of a regulation hockey rink!!

It's better in the spring and summer, there's a nice (but overpriced) outdoor bar/restaurant there when they take the ice up.

My mother had an aunt and uncle live in or near Lancaster. I visited one time as a kid. Really beautiful

Heading home to Newcastle to the football and chanting "Newcastle Newcastle" - reminds me of where I am from and what I am!

When my staff cry in the meetings with me - might sound weird - but I mean happy tears - that they have overcome some hurdles to achieve things they never thought they would.

My fish bouncing around with excitment the minute he hears me yell "hello jimmy"

recently- the biggest joy that is little - is being able to eat with a fork again - after 6 weeks of using either a straw or a teaspoon. Today - it will be eating bread for the first time in 8 weeks!

yes it really is the small joys..............
Hot wings
A cold Busch Light (it always takes me back to 93 when I used to do construction)
The smell of a Marlboro Light Cigarette
The taste of a Swisher Sweet Cigar
The feel of a bass on line

Things with wings:

butterflies
hummingbirds
dragonflies
pelicans
cranes
herons
seagulls
bees
planes taking off from the airport and flying over the house
winged hearts (put your heart in it and it will fly)

Flowers

Also, one special feeling...seeing the Gulf of Mexico as we approach over the bridge into Surfside or through the dunes at Port A.

Seeing what's on the fishing line when we pull it in!!

Watching a great golf shot

Hearing a special guitar

and like Cate, the cats sitting there waiting to be fed each morning when we wake up...hearing those special meows when they "talk"

Great thread.....sometimes we all need to take a deep breath and remember things like:

> a cat's purr as you hold it
> the smell of freshly cut grass (now I'm talking about the lawn here people.......I must be so careful while posting on BN  )
> the absolute silence of a daybreak
> watching clouds drifting through the sky
> watching ocean waves on a sandy beach in the Caribbean (or anywhere for that matter!)
> the beauty of flowers growing in your garden
> the tug of a wild trout on a fly that you tied yourself
> the feel of the tiller on a sailboat as you head upwind
> the roar of Corvette V8 engine as you shift through the gears
> the smile of a baby
> still holding hands and saying nothing in particular with your wife of 35 years

This is very cool, as other people list theirs it makes you nod and smile and say "Yeah that's another one"

Thanks again Santa!

AMEN!!!!

getting lost in time and thought standing waist deep in a river only thinking about that trout
the soft fur and smell of a puppy
morning coffee
a good meal you grilled and enjoyed out on the deck with a nice bottle of wine.... even better if you made the wine
looking forward to fall colors and spring wildflowers
the first fire in the wood stove- looking forward to winter
the last fire in the wood stove- looking forward to summer
farmers markets
watching the hello's and good bye's of others in airports (I travel quite a bit)
new birds at the bird feeder
everyday you can wear your sandals- yep, even in winter (Chaco's fan myself)
watching a thunder storm

ever notice the things people are listing don't cost $$$$ but are priceless?

Oh there's nothing like "puppy breath" Our customers always bring in their new puppies and we all have to get a couple of kisses!

MOST EXCELLENT observation TR, Thanks for pointing that out :D

and to add my own, ..... spending time with my family friends, whether it be here on BN, there on FB, or in my real -life
just being at the ocean
getting a silly text from a friend
staying home on a snowy day, and cooking a great meal...(even though I HATE snow) it is nice to enjoy a storm from inside.

When I first saw the title of this thread, I thought it was about Lulu, Renee, and I     [smilie=battingeyes.gif]

Being out on the boat or in a canoe/kayak while quietly taking in the scenery is always great.
Cruising topless and doorless in the Jeep is one of my favorite things to do, especially through some backwoods dirt roads at dusk.

We are in the process of moving today actually. There isn't much I will miss about this place except maybe when my son wakes up and. Comes halfway dow the stairs and hides in a lump of blankets. We pretend not to notice until he starts giggling uncontrollably.
