I'll give you mine.

I like the flat ones.

Give me the crunchy lard fried ones anyday!

Great thread.
I went camping with the family a few weeks ago and although it was last minute trip and we gone for only a short night, it was really great experiencing things with the kids that I did as a kid. Roasting (burning) marshmellow over a fire, sleeping in a tent, fire building, fire safety, etc. Bringing our dog was pretty fun too.
But, the best thing for the past few months is when I come home from work, my little 3 year old girl comes tearing towards me yelling "daddy" and give me a huge hug.

I drove up to see my folks a couple of weeks ago. The autumn colors were soooo beautiful. I kept stopping just to admire the vistas.
I drove up again Monday. Most of the leaves are down. (darn those winds) However, my 87 year old mom beat me at both Skip bo and Scrabble. She just loves it when that happens

This comment is targeted more along the lines of money can't buy you a world championship/happiness.

Bump
Last night we shared a wonderful dinner and a celebration of life for the sister of one of our best friends. Her sister passed from a brain tumor around Christmas and she was only in her early 50's. She was a very healthy person, an aerobic instructor and her career choice was to work at a cancer center helping others dealing with this terrible disease. She raised a family and saw her daughter get married before she passed. So the purpose behind the dinner, besides celebrating her sisters life, was to be sure to appreciate all the things we have everyday. Because of the cancer and the treatment, she lost quite a bit of her everyday functions:
She lost her ability to speak, so she could not express her love for her family and loved ones at the end of her life
She could no longer brush her own hair or teeth
She lost her ability to write
She lost her ability to taste because of the radiation treatment
Her sight was severely affected
She became trapped in her own body
So tomorrow when you get up and walk down to the kitchen and make a pot of coffee and have that first sip, take a few minutes to think about the miracle you were just a part of. Be sure to express your love for family and friends, and remember your ability to speak words is a blessing.

Just seemed like a good thing to think about the everyday miracles we can take for granted in the hustle and bustle of "getting ahead" in this thing called life.

Tonight we have 6" of un-predicted white stuff all over the place and it's still falling. The snow level is supposed to be 1,500 feet higher than where it's falling. That being said, the Sierra's are having a record year:
Squaw Valley USA March 16, 2011 – In the midst of another epic snowstorm, Squaw Valley USA has received
over 500 inches ( 43 feet), of snowfall this season. The 500" plus benchmark has only been reached three times in the past 13 years and never before April. With over a month and a half remaining in Squaw Valley's 2010-11 winter season, the new snow is setting the Lake Tahoe resort up for a truly phenomenal spring skiing season.

Yesterday i took a tour of my yard. The snow piles have nearly melted. I have crocus coming up in the lawn. (One year I took a bunch of bulbs, tossed them in the air and then planted them where they landed) It is so fun every year to see those little spots of color out in the yard.
When I went over to look at a bunch of purple ones, I was surprised to see a bee
I spent some time yesterday at the Butterflies in Bloom festival at Dow Gardens. I love to spend time just looking at them and all the flowers in the conservatory.

This is a really great place for us all to let go of those insignificant annoyances that sometimes bog us down but in the bigger scheme of things really don't matter. So, my small joys:
I live in a small country town and love nothing more than walking my dog past the pastures that line my street on an early morning. The world seems so fresh in the morning. There's no traffic, the birds are singing, and the cows are just hanging out. It's just such a peaceful time of day.
My second small joy is watching the dolphins swimming in the Atlantic when I go on my OBX vacation.

I'm sitting on the sofa, my home is warm and comfortable.
My fridge is full of food for Thanksgiving.....
One dog is in my lap, the other at my feet....
Just got a text message from my daughter telling me that her "in-laws" cooking isn't as good as mine...
I get really overwhelmed sometimes, being on my own, but when I slow down...break it down, piece by piece...my life is so good.
