It was a packed house, but not a sellout. You could buy lawn tickets the day of the show.
Tailgates were grills, coolers, lawn chairs and an occasional 12v blender.
At Merriweather Post Pavilion we used to have volleyball games in the grass parking lots. And limbo sticks.
The lots weren't trashed afterwards.
And no one sang "Salt! Salt! Salt!"
Hey......

However it does have some great people.

True Dat yo. Anna and I are still debating on bringing the normal amount of stuff or downsizing incase we have to lug it to the cove again.

Granted, you lack the central tailgate setting that most BNers prefer, but seeing all of those flowered shirts and grass skirts slowly take over the Boardwalk as the day went on was a hoot! Even funnier was watching the non-concert goers looking at the "scenery" and guessing that some "cult" was invading AC.....
We had a nice dinner at Caesar's pier, went to our room to freshen up, then casually walked to Boardwalk Hall for the show. The best thing? Walking back to our room at Caesar's after the concert......no parking lot hassles!
The show we attended was packed so although many may dislike the location, it didn't seem to affect the attendance.....
To each his own, right?
Even though there isn't a tailgate, I enjoyed AC. In '08, we had a block party w/John Frinzi & Mark James. Doyle & Peter showed up for a bit & signed autographs & pictures. In '09, Frinzi & his band were @ The AC Hilton Beach Bar for a pre party. Then after the show, still had bands playing in the beach bars. Wish JB had gone back to AC this year.
Everybody has their favorite.

It is what you make it.
Good points, Al.....

Agreed, Bristow is essentially a stone & gravel covered wasteland that leaves much to be desired......
But, the tailgate itself & people are fantastic!

Yeah, we're trying to pare it down too.
The Bristow parking plan for 2009 left a lot to be desired (i.e. Premier Parking being based on fast exit after the show). Sheesh, I guess tomorrow is a good time for me to call them to check when they open the lots and if they know how they feel like doing Premier this year.

Been to 10 venues. In no particular order, my top three are Tampa, Pine Knob (DTE) and Cincinnati. I think Detroit is very underrated, the only downside for some might be that the lots don't open till early afternoon.

Given the fact that the people in charge of parking haven't shaved yet and don't know their a** from a hole in the ground (it's this a song

)........

As close as this venue is to my house (25 mins), I do intensely dislike it. The first time we went to a concert there, we sat in the parking lot for almost 3 hours before we made it to the road. It was rough going to work the next day but we did learn our lesson for going to Nissan. Although the people at the tailgate........ARE THE BEST!!!!!

I'm not going to go worst to first.. My worst may not be everyone else's
besides I have friends and people I love in almost every home location
and I would not (OK try not to) hurt feelings..
I do not share your belief that Camden was that bad.. I saw some fun stuff..
and Stouts??? OK let's go there
I am almost 50.. I have bounced in...3 states.. from San Jose to Idaho
and I have job offers in two places right now.. ( BTW I retired I am way too old for the pain

)
Stouts is the first and only bar I have ever been thrown out of in my adult life
Stouts was not ready for us.. had no game plan, their manager
is a B#TCH (or was maybe she is gone) ETC ETC ETC....
Grass skirts and Landshark do not a Parrothead party make..
my advice?? go with a cool group and do no judge others and their set up, have fun with yours.. if you do cool things.. you give other pholks
ideas.. and the Muse to do more for next year..
in other words.. Run with the Big dogs.. or pee on the porch with the puppies.... if you didn't have a great set up.. zip it...

Actually we had a great set up and got a lot of compliments. I was more p**sed off at the venue and they way they set up their parking lots. I've been to the last 4 shows at MSG and never had an issue with Stout and I've usually brought 5 or 6 people with me. They always seem to accomodate everybody. I've said I've seen better and I've been to Great Woods for the last 15 years and it always seems people really put serious effort in. It's an observation and an opinion. Sorry if you were offended. The fact that the Camden venue puts you in warehouses and surrounds you in warehouse parking lots, and every where you look is barbed wire s*cks. The fact that the venue and police have you driving through an unlit neighborhood that can't handle the traffic also s*cks.
