Blazing Saddles.......that "campfire" scene was a classic!

Other than that, having been born in the 50s, growing up in the 60s, I became quite tired of all the western movies and TV shows.....

Same here, I really don't like westerns at all, 2 exceptions both mentioned here, Butch Cassidy and the Sundance Kid (after all they were both in their prime in more ways than one) and Blazing Saddles. But I generally find westerns pretty much a snooze fest.

Maybe heretical thinking, but I feel pretty much the same. Just not my genre, I guess . . .

So, what's your take on flicks such as The Unforgiven, Dances With Wolves, etc. Should they have never seen the light of day? On the "revisonistic" front, how do you feel about Deadwood, which attempted to portray life in the wild West more realistically than any "Western" ever made? Shoot they have stuck to the standard shoot 'em ups of yore?

Has anyone mentioned the Trinity Boys movies yet? If not, I am.

The Outlaw Josy Wales...

Josey Wales: When I get to likin' someone, they ain't around long.
Lone Watie: I notice when you get to DISlikin' someone they ain't around for long neither.

Bounty hunter #1: You're wanted, Wales.
Josey Wales: Reckon I'm right popular. You a bounty hunter?
Bounty hunter #1: A man's got to do something for a living these days.
Josey Wales: Dyin' ain't much of a living, boy.

Some of the best quotes are from that movie...

Blazing Saddles...My wife won't let me watch it because all I do is quote it as it goes, really annoys her.

It's still considered a "movie" no matter how you slice it. Are you suggesting it should be out of the running?

ooooooooooooooooh.......Zorro. 8) 8) 8)

Could 'Westworld' be considered a Western movie ? If not, I still love it as a western-type.

How about 'Old Yeller' ?

I'll watch any western made before 1970 that doesn't have Jimmy Stewart in it. The stuff made after 1970 starts to drag in political bias and are less historically accurate.
