I TOTALLY 100% agree. I never watch war movies, either. ugh.nutmeg wrote:I was trying to think of a western I liked. And I realized that I really don't like any of them.
There are lots of types of movies I don't personally care for.
Violent, depressing, or sad movies are all on my list of no no's. I don't go to the movies to be depressed or enraged. I want them to make me feel happy/good. We can get bombarded with enough of the bad stuff without even trying...I can't imagine wanting to pay to sit through something that makes me unhappy.
What is your favorite western film?

Louis L'amour's westerns do not focus on violence and typically have an honorable good guy and a good plot. Sort of lik a good old Bonanza, Big Valley or Gun Smoke episode. You might like Conagher, The Quick and The Dead (not the one with Sharon Stone) and The Sackets. A bonus feathure would be The Shadow Riders.

I agree. I like lighter-hearted good time films. Here's my western...Tequila Revenge wrote:citcat wrote:I TOTALLY 100% agree. I never watch war movies, either. ugh.nutmeg wrote:I was trying to think of a western I liked. And I realized that I really don't like any of them.

Favorite old western probably "The Cowboys"
Favorite "recent" western likely Tombstone (I know it's a bit cheesy, but has a pretty good cast hamming it up
)
Favorite western "spoof" ... Shanghai Noon (what you were expecting blazing saddles?)

UNFORGIVEN
Will Munny: That's right. I've killed women and children. I've killed just about everything that walks or crawled at one time or another. And I'm here to kill you, Little Bill, for what you did to Ned.
The Schofield Kid: [after killing a man for the first time] It don't seem real... how he ain't gonna never breathe again, ever... how he's dead. And the other one too. All on account of pulling a trigger.
Will Munny: It's a hell of a thing, killing a man. Take away all he's got and all he's ever gonna have.
The Schofield Kid: Yeah, well, I guess they had it coming.
Will Munny: We all got it coming, kid.

I love Jimmy Stewart, esp. in Hitchcock. Remember when he used to read his cowboy poetry?

I can't believe the lack of love for Sam
Seriously ladies, Tom Selleck did westerns. That's how he broke into the whole TV thing. Man I sound homo..... not that there's anything wrong with that
