I actually was a big fan of Laura Nyro, both as a performer, and as a songwriter.

In college we about wore out that album, along with their other live one, Full House. Good stuff.C-Dawg wrote:Dude, are you kidding??? Centerfold my have been their most commercial hit, but their best stuff was their earlier stuff. They were a band where their best stuff was live, and they have some great CDs you should check out, like "Blow Your Face Out"Glorfindel7 wrote:J. Geils Band? Did they have any other hit other than Centerfold? (That I know about anyway)
I see Rush is shut out yet again
Edit...so is Kiss....
Confession...Jazz SInger is still one of my all time favorite movies.surfpirate wrote:Confession ..... I have a great deal of admiration for Neil Diamond as a song writer and a performer

I have seen him in concert (been well over a decade since the last time) many, many times.
Good point! They should just change the name to the Music Hall of Fame.ph4ever wrote:tigzoe wrote:Is LL Cool J rock?
As much Rock as Donna Summer or Chic is.
There are many forms of Rock n roll....punk, grunge, metal, folk, disco, rap, reggae, pop, hip hop....and many others.tigzoe wrote:Good point! They should just change the name to the Music Hall of Fame.ph4ever wrote:tigzoe wrote:Is LL Cool J rock?

I have to respectfully disagree. Folk, Disco, Rap, Reggae, pop and hip hop are not R&R. They are their own music genre. If you're going to include them you should also include Blues, Jazz, C&W and Hillbilly because they definately have influenced R&R and shaped its early beginnings.C-Dawg wrote:There are many forms of Rock n roll....punk, grunge, metal, folk, disco, rap, reggae, pop, hip hop....and many others.tigzoe wrote:Good point! LL Cool J is one of Rap's pioneers and very talented. The guy has been around for almost 30 years. Whether you like the genre or not, it doesn't discount his contribution to music.

Larry you said it simpler than I could of Thank You! This fact burns me up and its one of the reasons I think the Hall of Fame is a joke. Much like the grammys when freakin Norah Jones got Album of the year over Bruces Rising album.LIPH wrote:Bruce Springsteen's already in the Hall, there's no reason to put Springsteen-lite (Bon Jovi) in there. Especially since Springsteen was inducted as a solo artist. If the E Street Band isn't in the Hall yet, Bon Jovi shouldn't get in without having to buy a ticket.

That's the best reason not to put them in.Mplsfins wrote:Without Kiss, we wouldn't of had any of the Hair Metal of the 80's.
I love hair metal bands! That was the birth of MTV. Whitesnake, White Lion, CInderella, Lita Ford. The good ole days!LIPH wrote:That's the best reason not to put them in.Mplsfins wrote:Without Kiss, we wouldn't of had any of the Hair Metal of the 80's.
Chic was mainly famous for their Le Freak, and Good Times but honestly those are DISCO, NOT ROCK ....Hockey Mon wrote:So, they should really call it the "Music" Hall of Fame. The criteria they use is quite nebulous.
And, to drive a point home, I can't believe a band with 8 albums (1 gold and 2 platinum) can beat out a band with 17 albums (6 gold, 7 platinum, 1 2xplatinum, 1 3xplatinum and 1 4xplatinum). I don't understand how Chic can be more influential than Rush.
