I actually was a big fan of Laura Nyro, both as a performer, and as a songwriter.

I see Rush is shut out yet again :(

Edit...so is Kiss....
Dude, are you kidding??? Centerfold my have been their most commercial hit, but their best stuff was their earlier stuff. They were a band where their best stuff was live, and they have some great CDs you should check out, like "Blow Your Face Out"
In college we about wore out that album, along with their other live one, Full House. Good stuff.

For the most part the RRHF is questionable at best...there is no reason Rush or Kiss shouldn't be in there....

However, I am glad ALICE COOPER is on the list...

Going to see him on Thursday in L.A. with Rob Zombie....

I have seen him in concert (been well over a decade since the last time) many, many times.
Confession...Jazz SInger is still one of my all time favorite movies.

Good point! They should just change the name to the Music Hall of Fame.

There are many forms of Rock n roll....punk, grunge, metal, folk, disco, rap, reggae, pop, hip hop....and many others.
LL Cool J is one of Rap's pioneers and very talented. The guy has been around for almost 30 years. Whether you like the genre or not, it doesn't discount his contribution to music.

I think the RNR HOF would have done well to clearly define (or at least attempt to define) what they are classifying as "Rock and Roll" from their very inception. Would sure have helped to avoid a lot of ill will toward them.

I was a huge fan of Donovan in the early 70's and I am here to say there
is no way on Gods Green Earth he should be in the Rock and Roll HOF. I'm
sorry but he just isn't R & R. The man is a poet and his music is great but it's not Rock.

I have to respectfully disagree. Folk, Disco, Rap, Reggae, pop and hip hop are not R&R. They are their own music genre. If you're going to include them you should also include Blues, Jazz, C&W and Hillbilly because they definately have influenced R&R and shaped its early beginnings.

I agree with you, and they have somewhat...Carl Perkins was inducted in 1987, and Johnny Cash in 1992. There's also been mention of Conway Twitty and Willie Nelson getting nominated.

As was I Ellen . . .
She only rarely did television performances.
Jackson Browne's song "That Girl Could Sing" was about her - they had a relationship back in the early 70's when I was in high school.

Larry you said it simpler than I could of Thank You! This fact burns me up and its one of the reasons I think the Hall of Fame is a joke. Much like the grammys when freakin Norah Jones got Album of the year over Bruces Rising album.

So, they should really call it the "Music" Hall of Fame. The criteria they use is quite nebulous.

And, to drive a point home, I can't believe a band with 8 albums (1 gold and 2 platinum) can beat out a band with 17 albums (6 gold, 7 platinum, 1 2xplatinum, 1 3xplatinum and 1 4xplatinum). I don't understand how Chic can be more influential than Rush.

Or Kiss who has the most gold albums of any US rock band ever. With over 80 million records sold in just the US alone. Without Kiss, we wouldn't of had any of the Hair Metal of the 80's.
Every year they don't get in is just more free publicity for them though.
Gene is right. It doesn't matter that 15 people with their heads up their A$$e$ don't get what it's about.

I love hair metal bands! That was the birth of MTV. Whitesnake, White Lion, CInderella, Lita Ford. The good ole days!

Chic was mainly famous for their Le Freak, and Good Times but honestly those are DISCO, NOT ROCK ....
I agree, change it to Music Hall of Fame
