Phin Power for a Marine battling cancer in a unique way
I am requesting some phin power for my cousin Clayton who will be participating in the Hawaii Ironman World Championships this weekend. He was diagnosed with testicular cancer a few years back, and as the article mentions last year it was at stage IV. While taking experimental treatment including chemo he started training for triathlons. He participated in the Hawaii Ironman 70.3 in June, and scored a coveted spot for this weekend's event. He has never done a tri at these distances, and only learned to swim this past February. I am posting a recent article about him plus his facebook page if you would like to follow his training a bit more.

In about 3 hours Clayton will start the Hawaii Ironman World Championship Triathlon. Here is a web site that you can track his progress throught the race. http://www.trackmyathlete.com The GPS tracker number is 024096 and his bib number is 156.
Good luck Clayton. I believe in you and know that you can do this for yourself and all other cancer patients.

Clayton easily made the swim cutoff time with a 2.4 mile swim of 1:31:49. Not bad for someone who just learned to swim in February. Next up is the 112 mile bike ride.

Clayton just passed the 10.2 mile mark of the 26.2 mile run. If anyone is up late give Clayton a megadose of phin power to help push him across the finish line.

To track Clayton Treska's progress you can go here http://coverage.ironmanlive.com/tracking.php?20101009 and enter bib number 156.
You can also go here http://myathletelive.net/kona and click on Clayton's name on the right hand of the page to see his current speed and a course position tracker.
By the way there is an 80yr old man named Lew Hollander still chugging along.

Crud, his speed is decreasing dramatically right now. I just hope that is due to an incline in the course.

Re: Phin Power for a Marine battling cancer in a unique way
Clayton did it!! Completed the Hawaii World Ironman in 15:16:58. Here is a posting form the official live coverage of the event:
Clayton Treska finishes! The amazing marine, who is still undergoing treatment for stage 4 testicular cancer, just came across the line. He only came out of the hospital in August. He was still in hospital, undergoing chemotherapy, when he finished Ironman 70.3 Hawaii. Earlier this week he told us he wanted to inspire other people with cancer. "You can't ever give up," he said. He didn't today - he's become an Ironman.
Congratulations Clayton!!! Thank you my BN friends for your support of Clayton.
