We are hoping for the place to be up and running by May 11th before we fly out of Ohare. That might be wishful thinking on our part. It would be a nice send off to go there for lunch.
Thanks for the update.......

May would be great. We're just waiting for the date to be announced so we can start making travel plans.

Heading for AMI, Shirley? We'll (if flight goes as scheduled) have just finished watching our first sunset for the week there in 29 more days. Can't wait!
A couple of my friends were just talking about driving to Milwaukee and taking the train into Chicago for a few days. When I told them there was a Maragaritaville opening on Navy Pier shortly, they said "That settles it. We're getting a hotel within walking distance and going!" Looking forward to that too.

TIna, no AMI for us, we're heading back to St Barts with some BN friends we met at the Le Select celebration. Just couldn't swing back to back vacations. A good friend of mine is renting from us so it will be 2013 before we get back there.
Oh what fun you will have. That whole area is fantastic isn't it? Shoot me a pm if you find something new and spectacular so I can clue my girlfriend in. I am curious how St Armands Square faired with the past few years fallout of the economy.
Hey let us know when you might be heading to Chicago.........maybe we will shoot up there and meet ya!!! That would be fun!!
I knew I was pushing the opening for May....

I anticipate Reefer shows before Toyota Park, and perhaps even Alpine. Nadirah, Mr Utley, and Doyle are on the Two Seasons Bowl roster, but maybe Peter and / or Mac would give it a go. I LOVE the possibilities, and look forward to visiting somewhat often!

Oh, St. Barts - nice!!! I'll happily do a little snooping around AMI for you. I feel like I'm heading home.
Meeting in Chicago would be great! Got to get the place open so we can make some plans...

Ahhhhhhhh, June sounds good! Weather will be warm. This will make a nice summer get away.
When we head out to the West Coast, we take the train. We usually spend a couple days going and coming in Chicago. So this works out perfectly.

Maybe it is me, but the magic of a new Margaritaville isn't touching me. When there were the original 4, it was a cool destination. Even when they started dropping them in the Caribbean at every cruise-ship stop, ok... I can see that. But I think the magic took a hit when they put the first one in a casino, and it has been dying a slow and ugly death ever since. It's no longer about the music and the mindset, it's just about shearing as many money-bearing "sheep" as possible.

And your point is?
I do more or less agree, but when one "comes to your town", there does seem to be a bit more interest. That said, I quickly outgrew the need to visit one of the 3 CIPs within easy reach in Chicagoland, as the experience just didn't match to the service received and the shearing I felt.

Have two CiPs in town, they were overpriced and I haven't been to one since a PHC Happy Hour last fall, and it had been a year or so since the time previous. I don't see the need for a Margaritaville in every city over 1 million in the US. A connection to Buffett, ok. Nashville sorta makes sense, at least as a history stop. Chicago, a lot more tenuous and really, a bit of a stretch even if you pull in the story of Goodman and the Quiet Knight's janitor. Niagra Falls, Phoenix, Vegas, and Connecticut, not at all. Maybe it would be better if Jimmy didn't go so much for brand dilution and focused on what got him here.

Everyone is entitle to their opinion. But it doesn't bother us a bit. We have had only good experiences at the Margaritaville Cafes we have visited. If we didn't I would be honest and admit it. We have standards when it comes to the restaurants we eat at. I can be down right picky about some things. But each of the cafes we have frequented have had very good food, very good drinks and a friendly staff that did their job well. The hot food was served hot. The drinks were always tall and cold. All was served in a timely manner. Each of the restaurants and gift shop and rest rooms were clean. As long as that kind of quality continues we have no problem with him adding new cafes where ever he wants. We travel to most of the locations they are in and look forward to spending time in the cafes cause for us it is fun.
I know we will be in Niagara Falls several times this summer and are already excited about spending time at Margaritaville. The same is true of Chicago. As for Vegas, that cafe is one of our favorites. We can't wait to see the new casino.
The souveinrs, t-shirts, etc. don't offend us. But we like that sort of thing. We also like most of the designs. When we see ones we like we buy them cause again wearing them makes us smile and feel good. Can honestly say we have not felt like we were being fleeced. Actually, I do hope he continues to make a profit. Cause that means all of the fun will be around for a while.
Again, this is just our opinion and we're sticking to it!!

Political connections in Chicago is the only way. Honestly do not look towards this summer to the place being open. I wouldn't doubt it if its open after Labor Day weekend.

Well said, Kruzin. Is there something wrong with opening restaurants to make money? That's what they all do and, honestly, Jimmy isn't out there forcing us to go in and spend our money. It's nice if they have a connection to a place, but I also don't see where they
have to either. It's great if you can afford to travel to the places where the original Margaritavilles are, but we're not at a point in our lives where we can do that. The one in Chicago will be the closest to us and it's an 8 to 9 hour drive. I'm looking forward to the experience & hope to meet up with Shirley & KK there!
