If we didn't I would be honest and admit it. We have standards when it comes to the restaurants we eat at. I can be down right picky about some things. But each of the cafes we have frequented have had very good food, very good drinks and a friendly staff that did their job well. The hot food was served hot. The drinks were always tall and cold. All was served in a timely manner. Each of the restaurants and gift shop and rest rooms were clean. As long as that kind of quality continues we have no problem with him adding new cafes where ever he wants. We travel to most of the locations they are in and look forward to spending time in the cafes cause for us it is fun.
I know we will be in Niagara Falls several times this summer and are already excited about spending time at Margaritaville. The same is true of Chicago. As for Vegas, that cafe is one of our favorites. We can't wait to see the new casino.
The souveinrs, t-shirts, etc. don't offend us. But we like that sort of thing. We also like most of the designs. When we see ones we like we buy them cause again wearing them makes us smile and feel good. Can honestly say we have not felt like we were being fleeced. Actually, I do hope he continues to make a profit. Cause that means all of the fun will be around for a while.
Again, this is just our opinion and we're sticking to it!!
Well said, Kruzin. Is there something wrong with opening restaurants to make money? That's what they all do and, honestly, Jimmy isn't out there forcing us to go in and spend our money. It's nice if they have a connection to a place, but I also don't see where they
have to either. It's great if you can afford to trave to the places where the original Margaritavilles are, but we're not at a point in our lives where we can do that. The one in Chicago will be the closest to us and it's a 8 to 9 hour drive. I'm looking forward to the experience & hope to meet up with Shirley & KK there!

Little Update from what I know on the Margaritaville front...... I did some submittals today for the exterior part of the joint. From what I understand, the painting is still a few months away.... I am figuring no earlier than a 4th of July opening.

Anyone who's been to Chicago's Navy Pier would agree that it's almost a perfect place for a Margaritaville, just the fact that it's got one of the best views of the Chicago Skyline and Lake Michigan, and it's almost like an island in itself.
I haven't been to all of the Margaritaville's either (just LV, the Beachcomber, want to get to Orlando and KW at some point) but I don't think this is just the "money angle" when it comes to Chicago, it's probably more that the opportunity finally arrived to be able to take advantage of.
Hope it's open in July, would LOVE to meet everyone there the night before the concert

Posted on a number of other Buffett and non-Buffett sites. Can't find the original source, so take it with a grain of salt....salt.....salt (why did I do that? I don't like it when Jimmy does.) This is the 3rd or 4th date I've seen now.
The developers of the Margaritaville Cafe at Navy Pier in Chicago hope to open the new restaurant by Memorial Day weekend, Navy Pier said in an email:
The owners of Margaritaville hope to be open by Memorial Day weekend. Construction on this new Navy Pier restaurant is currently underway. The restaurant management is working to complete construction, and have the restaurant stocked and staffed for that weekend. At this time, they do not anticipate any delays, but in any new construction, unforeseen circumstances may delay the opening.
When first announced last fall, Buffett said “I couldn’t be more excited about Margaritaville arriving on the shores of Lake Michigan. From my earliest days in the city, playing the Quiet Knight on Belmont, to the pinnacle of live performances to me, singing in front of the ivy wall at Wrigley Field, I have had a long and wonderful history and affection for the people, the music, the art and the food of the Windy City. I have always thought Chicago as a beach town, a pretty big one, but still a beach town. I am happy to call Navy Pier home to Margaritaville. Fins Up Chicago.”

Went with my nephew to the job fair on Saturday, he made it past 3 rounds of interviews and should hear back today.
He was told training would start mid June, so I would say even 4th July might be a push for the opening.
Went down to look at the site and was able to peek inside, the interior is no where near finished, looks like they just finished the teardown, no sign of any new construction yet. They were still breaking concrete on the exterior too.

Thanks for the info. I didn't make it down there after all... will have to settle for being a patron instead.
Good luck to your nephew - I hope he gets good news today!

The sign says "Air margaritaville Bar and restaurant" .........................so is there something going on and this is not going to technically be a Margaritaville cafe????????
I just discovered that the Cheeseburger in paradise in the Detroit area is still open. I thought they all closed a couple of years ago.

CIP closed a ton of them, including 2 of the 3 here in MI, but there's still a couple dozen (or more) still open around the country.

Some of them have closed, but the chain is still open and there are 2 left in the Chicago area.
