Re: Obsessed???
This topic reminds me of my mom; this is how she used to introduce me.... "this is my daughter, she loves Jimmy Buffett". Mom passed away in 2005 at the age of 79. I still get a chuckle thinking being introduced to her older friends, most of them had no idea who Jimmy Buffett was, but my mom was sure proud of my obsession

Re: Obsessed???
I used to have more friends who thought I was nuts to be a Parrothead...then a few of them went to the STL show this year and now they also understand. Maybe next year we'll convert a few more...just hope Jimmy keeps going long enough to get them all converted.

Re: Obsessed???
I have to echo what larry said. A friend of mine accused me of crossing the line when I went to four JB shows last year. She accused me of being a fanatic and of thinking that JB is the savior. Well, I decided to totally ignore her statement as she really is a miserable person. At last check when I say my prayers every day I do not pray to Jimmy Buffett. I do not attend the Westwood Church of Jimmy Buffett, and I am not the Internet prayer chain coordinator of the Westwood Church of Jimmy Buffett. The fact is Jimmy's music came into my life at a time when I would need help the most. Because of his music I have made some friends that will last me a lifetime. Because of his music I have another reason to be happy and through his music I have found more ways to make a difference in the community. I'm not married, and I have no kids. It is just Ms Sammie and I. Whether I go to 1 show a year or 10 I no longer care what people think, and it is none of their business. They either get it or they don't, but the important thing is that I get it, and I love it.LIPH wrote:I don't think I'm obsessed and I don't give a s*** what anyone else thinks.

I think I'm probably obsessed...but I see it as a good thing. At least I have something that I'm passionate about and that makes me really happy...most people don't have that. Sure, my family and friends think I'm a little nuts...but that's ok...everyone is a litte nuts in one way or another. I love Jimmy, his music, and everything that comes with that...and I'm proud of it.

Love this. Echoes the way I feel. I could care less what most other people think. My husband and kids support my bank of bad habits! If everyone had something in their life that made them feel like Jimmy and his music make me feel, the world would be a better place.ParrotHeadInThe Making wrote:I have to echo what larry said. Re: Obsessed???
Exactly, I know I am better off in life for having Jimmy's music in it. I'm also reaping the benefits of it. In March 2011 I will be going to the Stars Fell on Alabama weekend where I will hook up with the BNers who I have been in touch with for the past year and where I will get to listen to all kinds of music that is here thanks to the music of Jimmy Buffett. Plus I will get to do something for a good cause. How cool is that? If all of this means that I am obsessed with Jimmy, I'm happy to be guilty as charged.springparrot wrote:I love Jimmy Buffett and his music.ParrotHeadInThe Making wrote: I have to echo what larry said. Tales From Margaritaville is like scripture to me. I used to be in the Church of Buffett website. I first accepted him in 99 and have backslided just a little bit but not enough to miss service on BN.
Sometimes when I'm hungover I sing my head hurts, my feet stink and I don't love Jimmy
