I do not attend the Westwood Church of Jimmy Buffett, and I am not the Internet prayer chain coordinator of the Westwood Church of Jimmy Buffett. The fact is Jimmy's music came into my life at a time when I would need help the most. Because of his music I have made some friends that will last me a lifetime. Because of his music I have another reason to be happy and through his music I have found more ways to make a difference in the community. I'm not married, and I have no kids. It is just Ms Sammie and I. Whether I go to 1 show a year or 10 I no longer care what people think, and it is none of their business. They either get it or they don't, but the important thing is that I get it, and I love it.
I love Jimmy Buffett and his music.
He has not changed my life, but has made it better.
Exactly, I know I am better off in life for having Jimmy's music in it. I'm also reaping the benefits of it. In March 2011 I will be going to the Stars Fell on Alabama weekend where I will hook up with the BNers who I have been in touch with for the past year and where I will get to listen to all kinds of music that is here thanks to the music of Jimmy Buffett. Plus I will get to do something for a good cause. How cool is that? If all of this means that I am obsessed with Jimmy, I'm happy to be guilty as charged.
So well said and I feel the same way. My life is so much better because of the people I've met (and yet to meet). I've also traveled to places I never dreamed I would visit. So, I guess I'm guilty too. :D

Jimmy's music just makes me smile....... :D

No matter what my day has brung, no matter how upset I might be, listening to a Buffett tune for about 5 minutes or so just brings everything back into perspective for me.....and reminds me that life is meant to be enjoyed day-by-day.

I've come to the conclusion after all of these years that if someone else just doesn't "get" being a Buffett fan, well, then they really aren't living life to the fullest..... :pirate:
On most days I say: "Wrinkles only go where the smiles have been...."
Sometimes I can only say: "There is no dumbass vaccine......"

I used to get a little upset when people would say I was obsessed, but I don't care anymore. What I do get sick of is the number of people telling me they like to live their lives vicariously thru me because I always seem to be off doing something fun, taking "the best" vacations and having a good time....I feel like telling them to get up off their dead a$$es and have a little fun of their own....but I swear a lot of 'em wouldn't know how

I don't think anyone on BN fits into that category....some may have the means to play more than another, but we all come here for the same reason..."we get it"!
I'm talking about the people I've invited to join us at PHC parties, to go out for dinner & drinks, etc, but they always have an excuse why they can't, but yet are the first to ask if I have any pictures form our last outing

You can come up with an "excuse" for anything if you aren't committed. I'm proud to say most BNers are committed to having fun! :pirate:

YES, C-Dawg! You understand! While I love and agree with what Liz, Molly and Bfan53 said, you really caught my underlying frustration. I truly love Jimmy, his music and how it all makes me feel great, but I would feel even better if my friends would respect that. Their attitude about it can be so condesending at times, yet I'm the one they turn to when they need some fun in their lives and they envy my attitude. I decided a few years ago that I know too many people either dying or gone too soon so I'm going to have as much fun as I can while I'm still here. They could do the same thing but seem frozen in their day-to-day living. One last thought - I generally don't care what people think about me. I was just feeling frustrated and tired I guess. Thanks for letting me know I'm not alone in my "obsession!"

Or maybe they're just not into and channel their energy differently, nothing wrong with that. Folks can still live a very full life and not be a Buffett fan (or "get" the whole Parrothead thing).

True, but I was commenting more on those that simply don't seem to enjoy anything in life.....which is sad.

I agree with the above. I work with a couple of people with tons of vacation and sick time and never ever use it. The same people have ragged me about being a parrothead.

Why some people do not use vacation time still baffles me after all these years of working........ [smilie=hello.gif]

Even if you are a workaholic and don't enjoy anything else, everyone still needs to just get away from the job and decompress......you'll be a better employee (if that's really all you want) :o

Do you really think you are THAT important?

You can say that again! More times than not RM is playing on my computer at work. Then other times I go through the cd's. My boss came in the office a couple of weeks ago and wondered what I was listening to since it wasn't JB. I have more JB shirts than anything else. I am usually wearing one of my two JB hats. I could be obsessed about much worse things.

Get busy living or get busy dying! And I don't care if people think I am obsessed with anything, I am a tad OCD to begin with. Most people that hear about my trips to the concerts love it (and the stories).

I hope you all understand that I'm quite comfortable with my "obsession." Listening to Jimmy's music can totally turn around a bad day - I don't know what I'd do without it. (If I said that to most of my friends I'd get a snicker at the very least) I'm just tired of hearing about it and them laughing about it. I respect their obsessions. When they're going on about their football, etc. I just tune out and let them ramble. I'd just appreciate them not rolling their eyes, laughing, etc. whenever I mention Jimmy, BN, or anything else Buffett related. They don't seem to have much of a problem with it when they're looking for someone that'll go out and have fun.
