Playing catch up over the last several days:

Image
Horrendous, avoid at all costs. They must have paid Harrison Ford extremely well to be in this one.

Image
While not as great as I'd been led to believe, it was still a good movie, just not as good as I was expecting.

Image
I guess it says a lot about the state of Hollyweird when some of the movies I've enjoyed most recently have come out of Pixar Studios.

Image
I'd seen the first Without A Paddle and while it was nothing particularly special, I didn't think it was too bad for a good old mindless comedy. Turns out this new movie isn't exactly a sequel but is more like a remake and tremendously poorly done one at that. Another one to put in the "avoid at all costs" column. I think I've finally hit rock bottom with Redbox rentals.

Image
Lots of stars in this one but that's about all it had going for it. Once I figured out what was going on, I realized it wasn't really worth the effort to figure out. It's not bad, I just never found it all that engaging.

Rewatched End of the Spear and still think it is a great movie.

http://endofthespear.com/

Worlds collide and tragedy strikes as a group of missionaries journeys to the heart of the Amazon jungle in search of the Waodani, a fierce tribe of warriors completely isolated from civilization. When five of the missionaries are brutually speared by the tribesmen, their families, numb, are left husbandless and fatherless. Undeterred by their loss and spurred on by hope, the families of the victims remain in Ecuador to live among the Waodani as a young boy attempts to unlock the explosive secret of his father’s death.

Based on a true story, End Of The Spear tells the true life story of 5 young men: Jim Elliot, Ed McCully, Roger Youderian, Peter Fleming, and their pilot, Nate Saint who gave their lives for the Gospel. It also focusses on the families (specifically Nate's son, Steve Saint) and their unbelievable response to such a senseless tragedy.

End Of The Spear is a moving and powerful tale of sacrifice, courage, and redemption.

Also watched the documentary about the movie on hulu.com about the movie...called Beyond the Gates of Splendor

Another great movie from the anti-hero star Paul Giammati, and a solid supporting cast.
Completely believable premise with realities pulled right from these times we live in...

I've never been much of a Tom Cruise fan, hated Top Gun, so this is one I had never watched. A friend insisted I take his copy home and watch it, so I did. I thought it was pretty good. Maybe I should give Tom another chance.

Not exactly the most uplifting movie I've ever seen but it's definitely much better than several of the stinkers I've watched lately.

Almost a big of piece of garbage as Avatar, but the dealings with Chicago gave it a nudge better. I rate this one .25 stars out of 4

I had NO idea what I was getting into here. Goes to show you should always read the product description before renting.

I was very pleasantly surprised by this one and enjoyed it a great deal.

Image
Absolute sh*t. I have no one to blame but myself on this because I did read the product description beforehand. That should have been a dead giveaway. Not to mention the Rob Schneider factor itself.

I made it right up to the scene where he slips and gets trapped by the rock. Then I promptly ejected it from my DVD player. No can watch.

Same here. I liked it better when Jim talked out his @ss instead of taking it in it but it was a good story.

Saw this the other night as well and it was terrible
