A more apt title would have been Nowhere as in, this movies goes... While I've enjoyed the other Sofia Coppola movies I've seen (Lost In Translation, The Virgin Suicides), what may have worked for them didn't work for this one, at least not for me.
I'm probably one of the biggest fan of obscure indie arthouse flicks around here, and I saw this last year and....

it was just incredible NOTHINGNESS. I don't think I've ever seen a film of so little meaning ...and that DID NOT make it "hip" or "cool" or anything.
A true waste of my time and money...
I guess I should consider myself lucky as I only paid $1 for it at Redbox. I kept waiting for something to happen and it never did. I liked how Lost In Translation was so unconventional and didn't have a traditional Hollywood ending but at least it had some substance, that's something that was completely lacking in this movie.

My wife and I always dig a good Bogart flick.

"Guy and Madeline on a Park Bench"

It was okay, but kind of in the face of the influences from the French New Wave.

Went back to watch "Blow Out" on the new Criterion release. Reminded me how annoying I find Brian De Palma.

Thanks for the reviews. I almost added that one to my Netflix queue, I won't bother. :D

On the other hand, wasted my time on this one..ugh.

Letters To God...what a wonderful movie!! The soundtrack for this movie is so inspiring also... and I know we all have times in our lives when we question...WHY? We just can't help but do that, and this movie is one of those that helps us remember "Thy will be done~~"

Faith and hope are the twin engines that power this uplifting, bittersweet tale based on the true story of Tyler Doherty (Tanner Maguire), an 8-year-old boy who battles brain cancer and turns to God as his own private pen pal. Tyler writes and mails his missives daily, and his steadfast undertaking not only moves his family and friends, but it also alters the life of despairing postman, Brady (Jeffrey Johnson), who opens the boy's letters.

Funny laugh-out-loud line in Letters To God...
The postman is drinking too much at the bar (Finnegan's Bar & Grill)...he had been in Iraq and the bartender was his COA, and is a tropical shirt-wearing type we all know and adore. Bartender is cutting him off and inquires about him "having trouble with his deamons tonight?" Postman pops off "you having trouble remembering you're just a bartender"...and on a lighter note ...as he is leaving the bar says:

OH yeah. Jimmy Buffett called and he wants his shirt back... :wench:

Agreed! To make things worse, accidently dubbed it without subtitles. Way too much French spoken in the movie.

Just OK. Hard to follow. Based on true events.

Not crazy about the ending but overall a good movie. One scene looks like it was stolen from True Romance.

It's hard to compete with Sorkin's writing. He is an amazing talent.

Without realizing it, I had a Natalie Portman moment.

Image

It was cute. Nothing earth shattering, but I think I would watch Natalie Portman read the back of a cereal box. So often she's funny in unexpected ways.

I hadn't gotten around to it and for all the excitement surrounding it, I'd heard some mediocre reviews, but I loved it.

Watched the Jeff Bridges version first. In my defense, I wasn't born when the Duke's version was released.

Finally got around to watching the "Hangover." It's weird watching Ed Helms as anything but Andy Bernard on The Office.

I was hoping to laugh hysterically and pee my pants, but only giggled a few times.

Picked up "Bring it On" for a few bucks at Target and watched it with girl-kid. Love spirit fingers and the best quote, "Cheerleading is dance gone retarded."

don't be fooled by the title, this a funnier-than-hell, raunchy Judd Apatow classic 8)
everyone in the theater was howling!

Took my Mom to see this on Sunday night. At times I was almost embarrased to be sitting next to her while she was laughing her ass off.

Highly Recommend it. Way better than Hangover.

We just saw X Men First Class. It was not really on my "to see" list but my wife loves X Men.
It was great....much better than I was thinking it would be. There's nothing after the credits this time.
