It was okay. It certainly wasn't terrible. It had some funny parts.
Just rented this one myself (kinda hard to turn down at Redbox for $1) solely for the mindless comedy aspect. That said, it made some good points about a generation reared on video games and spending far too much time indoors. Sadly, there are even camps set up (at least in NC) to teach kids not to be afraid of the outdoors.

Went & saw "Unstoppable" this weekend, the new Denzel Washington flick.
Thought I needed to see it on the big screen.
Did not think it live up to the hype. Save it for the home rental imho.

Mrs Jollymon and the kids have tickets to see the new Harry Potter movie at midnight Thursday night....I'm not going since I'm the only one in America that can claim that he hasn't seen one of the Potter movies (don't want to break my streak) :o

Every November 5th--in honor of the date that Doc Brown came up with the idea for the flux capacitor--CDIII and I watch Back to the Future. I cook, we drink lots of wine, and quote the movie from start to finish. Last in-theater movie: Saw 3D. Ugh. I usually fall asleep part way through most of the movies we watch at home.

I read and watched quite a few terrible reviews for Skyline but I've seen bad reviews before for movies that I like so I still wanted to see it. Since I'm off I went today by myself and it stunk. The effects were good but the story, acting and ending were horrible. Thankfully it was only 6 bucks and I didn't blow any $$$ on snacks and drinks.

Seldom does a film live up to all of the praise heaped upon it. This one did and then some. Then again, it's very hard to go wrong with anything Clint related. He knocked this one out of the ballpark as both a director and an actor.

If you like comedies that perhaps weren't the most popular with the critics...try Death at a Funeral. This is a remake of a Frank Oz film of the same name. I saw it over the weekend on DVD. Among others....Danny Glover, Martin Lawrence, Chris Rock, and Tracy Morgan. Now that's a funny movie IMHO.....

Put me in that club too. I actually have no desire to see (or read) any of 'em.

I saw Inception on the plane ride over to Ireland. I, personally, thought it was a good movie and liked it. It's actually one of those movies that seems to stay with me for days after seeing it. Dreams ... I'm probably overly intrigued by them anyway, so may be why I liked the movie.

Dave and I rented Crazy Heart a few weeks back. Not sure if someone mentioned this earlier in this thread...I would think so, but the main character made us think of Jerry Jeff Walker. It's not like we know the guy or have seen him in concert..
Did anyone else have that feeling??

Several "outlaw" types came to mind but Waylon probably entered my thoughts most. From what I've read, Bridges' character was based on an amalgamation of several folks (in addition to Waylon) such as Kris Kristofferson and Merle Haggard. The original novel (upon which the movie was based) drew largely from the life of country singer Hank Thompson. The late Stephen Bruton also played an integral part in the making of the movie both behind the scenes from a musical standpoint and as partial inspiration for the main character of Bad Blake. You can read more about that here. When the news in that link first broke it made me think a whole lot less of T Bone Burnett, the man responsible for so many of my favorite albums in recent years such as the O Brother, Where Art Thou? soundtrack and Robert Plant & Alison Krauss' Raising Sand. He's also at the helm of the new Gregg Allman album, Low Country Blues which is due early next year.

I liked that movie a lot and also the fact that it did not have the sad ending that I thought was coming. I never thought of Jerry Jeff but you're right about that.
The parts with him being drunk on stage reminded me of David Allen Coe or Hank Jr.
Kinda cool to see Jeff Bridges back in a bowling alley too

I didn't realize there was a British and U.S. version of this until I went to rent it yesterday. I opted for the original, British version per the rental clerk's recommendation. Just for comparison's sake I'll have to check out the U.S. version eventually.
