Based on reactions I've read on various boards about this movie, I was halfway expecting not to like it. Thankfully, that didn't turn out to be the case. Perhaps those that were disappointed in it were expecting something far different, like a thriller or something.

Much better than I expected. I didn't realize before watching it that Singer/Songwriter Marshall Chapman played a small role in the movie.

I mentioned it in a post here back when she was in Raleigh promoting her book
They Came To Nashville earlier this year. By the way, for anyone in Nashville, Marshall will performing this week (along with lots of other artists, including Will Kimbrough) as part of the
Americana Music Association Awards.

Horrible Bosses was way funnier than I was expecting, especially given the dark tone.
Bad Teacher? Not so much.

Perhaps one day, the Jimmy Buffett story will receive the documentary treatment. It would be particularly nice if it was done by someone such as Cameron Crowe. Fitting too since Buffett was one of the few that didn't have the liner notes to his live album in the 70s penned by Cameron.

I really liked this movie as well as the book. There are some changes made, but I think it works well.

Very difficult viewing, just as I figured it would be (which is why it took me so long to finally get around to watching this) but very well worth it. I wish had watched it sooner. This is a movie who's impact will stay with me for a great long while, if not forever.

Not exactly sure what I was thinking when I rented this or if I was even thinking at all. It has a few laughs but nothing worthy of redeeming the entire movie.
I was a bit hesitant to rent this one because of all the poor reviews I read about it last summer, not just from critics but from fans. After having watched it, I have to wonder what it was about it that they hated so much. Personally, I loved it and found it to be among the better entries in the
Pirates series.
