I may be starting a new job soon and the first thing I have to do if they offer it to me is negotiate for one more week of vacation time. I didn't think the initial interview was the place to reveal my love for Jimmy Buffett and the travel it entails!

When I interviewed for the job I have now, I told them I had never called in sick in the past so not to worry about getting a sub at the last minute. But I would definitely need 2 days off when Jimmy Buffett was in town. They said no problem! Little did they know I would travel across the country for a concert. The first year I went to MOTM, I told the principal I was going to a "professional convention". Well........I was!!!!

ahaha.. they totally understand where I work that when it comes to Jimmy... don't expect to see me! Already mentioned to my boss that I'll be in Key West next Nov and she just smiled.. think she was happier at the thought I'd stick around that long!

Good luck Pam, It's all about vacation time. That is one of the biggest problem I am finding, had a 2nd interview with a company and they will give me 2 and 1/2 days next year so I guess they don't want me

I know Barb, the company I'm talking to starts you at 3 weeks but I really need 4, I'm even willing to take a little less money in trade. But I figure I'll wait to see what they offer me first.
Right now I have a little over 6 weeks, that's the ONE thing it will be hard to give up.

The problem now with negotiating extra Vacation time is.......there aren't many jobs out there and a lot looking....unless they pursued you....most companies have people by the you know whats....work more for less...sad but true...they'll give you a unpaid week , because it benefits them...............my plan would be KW even if it means to sacrifice 1 GW show , yes looking for new Job too!!!!
