I've got all of their music already on CD's.
Any thoughts?

I abhor mp3s. Not saying I don't listen to them but I prefer listening to music that hasn't been compressed to death. That said, this is an opportunity missed. As you mentioned, anyone that owns the CDs has ripped them to iTunes (or your music software of choice) already. Who are the last holdouts now, Zeppelin and AC/DC?captenuta wrote:I've got all of their music already on CD's.

Zeppelin is available on I-tunes. Put Bob Seger & Kid Rock on that list.Tiki Torches wrote:I abhor mp3s. Re: Apple starts selling Beatles songs
Never been able to use iTunes for some reason. I've downloaded thier program a couple different times on different machines and still was not able to navigate their site.
Anyhow...not a big fan of The Beatles. So that's not a draw, to me.
It's strange how artists and their management companies seem to have on again off again relationships with music sites.
I use Rhapsody and every now and then they'll have the entire JB catalogue...and sometimes only select live material. Like they have right now. Buffet Hotel and the rest of the live series from a few years ago. That's it.
Led Zep...same deal...Rhapsody made a huge deal out of having their stuff and now....gone.
They do have Kid Rock..though...not sure about Bob Seger

I usually download from Amazon. They have a nice sized selection, no Beatles though as far as I know. The new Kid Rock album is only $3.99 on there right now.

Re: Apple starts selling Beatles songs
In the case of AC/DC they apparently don't want their fans to be able to obtain just one song at a time, they prefer them to listen to an entire album. Makes me wonder if they have totally forgotten about singles. There's also the sound quality issue. Lots of sites will put stuff on sale for an incredibly cheap price to encourage sales. The downside to that is, it just paves the way for an inferior format (mp3s) to completely take over. Then, you have bands like the Black Crowes who offer a variety of formats; everything from a format that isn't compressed at all to mp3s. Everyone from Lou Reed and Neil Young have pleaded with the music industry to not allow mp3s to become the norm. Sadly, they seem to be fighting a losing battle. These days, if I'm not buying a CD I'll buy a vinyl record that comes with a download code.BeachBumJim wrote:It's strange how artists and their management companies seem to have on again off again relationships with music sites.

Re: Apple starts selling Beatles songs
I have not noticed compressed sound or a different sound from any mp3s that I've downloaded.
I just downloaded the new album from Jimmy Parrish and Ocean Waves today and the quality is great. Now if it was recorded crappy then of course the mp3 will be the same.
