A Charlie Brown Christmas-VInce Guaraldi Trio

The only Christmas CDs I have are:
Christmas Island - JB
Tropical Steel Christmas - Dave Lapio

The last few years, Amazon has been giving away a free download of a Christmas song every day in December so that's 31 free songs/year. The NY Post did the same thing on it's website last year. There was a free holiday sampler from iTunes last year, I think it had 20 songs. The free weekly download on iTunes is almost always a Christmas song every week in December (they started early this year, they had a Jessica Simpson Christmas song last week [smilie=puking.gif]). People have burned CDs of Christmas music and sent me copies, I have one of Texas artists that Nancy gave me a couple of years ago and Santa Wayne sent me one of various artists also. There might be others. So even though Scrooge rarely buys Christmas music, I currently have 489 songs in the Christmas playlist in my iTunes library. Some of them are not fit for family gatherings.

Not my religion, but I do like a lot of Christmas music. Lots of instrumental stuff-Canadian Brass, etc. Also love the Perry Como album-takes me back to my youth....and that is a very long time ago.

Been collecting Christmas music for years.

Some of our favorites include:

JB Christmas Island
Christmas Raggae
Kenny G: Wishes
Barry Mannilow: Swing Of Christmas
Diana Krall: Christmas Songs
Nat King Cole: The Christmas Album
Julie Andrews: Greatest Christmas Songs
The Rat Pack....any and all of their Christmas albums
Rosemary Clooney: White Christmas
Sinatra and Crosby: A Christmas To Remember
Elvis: Christmas Album
Andy Williams: Christmas Album
John Denver: A Rocky Mountain Christmas
Tony Bennett: Snowfall
Perry Como: Christmas Album

But my all time favorite Christmas albums hasn't made it to CD's yet. At least not that I know of. Back in the mid to late 60's there was a set of albums made and sold one a year they were the Firestone Christmas albums. They were sold at the tire dealership every holiday. My mother bought them. I have them now. They were one of our all time favorties. Has all of the classic artists of the time performing the traditional songs. Let me know if you've seen them in CD yet.

This one, along with Buffett's Christmas Island is a must listen every Christmas morn:

The next time Buffett gets around to doing another Mary Gauthier and/or Christmas record I'd love to see him take a stab at this one. It fits him to a tee but would be hard to improve upon Mary's version.

What about the Neil Diamond xmas albums???
Did you hear the one about me being a punk?
Did you hear the one about me being a drunk?
Did you hear the one about me losing my nerve?
Or how I'm just another f**** sheep in the herd?
Did you hear the one about me giving a s***?
Cause if I ever did I don't remember it.

Thanks Molly. I didn't listen to them but none of them are in my collection so I downloaded all of them. I'll listen to them tomorrow and see if any of them are worth keeping.

I've listened to so many dirty parodies that when the originals come on I can't help but sing the dirty versions. My fave is the dirty parody of "Jingle Bell Rock" (ya know ya wanna youtube it).
I actually have Kenny Chesney's Christmas album laying around him somewhere. Don't know why...it sucks of epic proportions.
"Christmas In Hollis" by RunDMC is still my jam.
Of course Jimmy's album is in rotation.
I also have the South Park Christmas album. "Mr. Hankey The Christmas Poo" has become a staple in my household.
I have Jerry Jeff's Christmas album and one of them "Now That's What I Call Christmas" cds too.

They started today ...

... and I was wrong about them doing it all month. They only do it through Christmas day so it's 25 free songs/year, not 31.

I also have such holiday classics as Santa Claus Go Straight To The Ghetto, Ain't No Chimneys In The Projects, Christmastime (by a band called Psychotic Glitch, it's to the tune of AC/DC's Thunderstruck), Fairytale Of New York ("It was Christmas Eve babe, in the drunk tank"), Get Drunk And Make Out This Christmas, I Wanna Rock You Hard This Christmas and The Little Hooters Girl (to the tune of Little Drummer Boy).

And if anyone's seen the KMart commercial (at least I think it's KMart) with "we can frolic and play in the snow on a sleigh, just you and me on a snow day, it's the best time of year, it's the best time of day, just you and me on a snow day" playing in the background, I have that too. It's called Snow Day and it's by Toby Lightman.
