Go Tampa.......I think they got a good match up playing the Rangers......I'm glad the Yankees go to Detroit....with there pitching i could see a sweep!!......i'm hoping for a Tampa Bay / Milwaukee WS.....but. it will probably be Detroit and the Phillies....

Playoffs are always a crap shoot, but I'm predicting the Tigers & Cardinals.

Welcome to my world........it's been a frustrating 14 years since the Orioles had a winning season.

Over that time I've tried many times to switch teams. I just can't do it. Guess that makes a "true" fan or incredibly stupid!

We're just p*** (or at least I am anyway) that management didn't get the Sox ready for the season well enough out of spring training. I believe the games in April are just as important to win as yesterday's game was. You start the season 2 - 10 and you put yourself in a hole that you cannot afford a slump like the Sox had this past month.

Jeez, even the CUBS lost.
Well, nobody can accuse THEM of choking.

The south side team in Chicago also lost (not suprised at that one really).... shaping up to be an interesting offseason

I turned the game off when it was 7-0. MLB Network was showing the 9th inning of the Red Sox-Orioles game and when Papelbon struck out the first 2 batters I figured the game was over so I turned that off too. I missed all the fun.

Wasn't the Red Sox gag job, and the Braves too BTW, worse than the Mets in 2007? They only blew a 7 game lead, I think the Red Sox and the Braves both had bigger leads in the wild card races.

I heard some of that but I don't have a problem with what he did. Ryan Braun had passed Reyes and taken the lead over the weekend, then he sat out Monday night's game (but he did pinch hit and got a double). Reyes went 3-4 Monday and 3-6 in the extra inning game Tuesday to take back the lead. Including the 1 at bat yesterday, he went 7-11 in the last 3 games to close out the season so it's not as if he coasted to the batting title. Braun went 2-7 in his last 3 games.

The Yankees would have a better chance if they were facing the Tigers in the SECOND round of the playoffs, in which case Verlander would possibly have to start three games. But in a short 5 game series, there's no way they'll beat him twice. I don't think anybody beat him twice all year. Hell, not many teams beat him ONCE, much less twice.
Even if the Yankees were to get past the Tigers, they'd have a slightly better chance against the Rangers (no disrespect toward them). But if they had to play Tampa Bay, it would be a bigger battle for them. The Yankees had a TERRIBLE record against teams in their division this year. Remember-they lost their last four games, all of which were against teams in their division. Fortunately for them, they'd already secured a playoff spot. Otherwise losing four in a row could've had just as disaterous effect on them as it did the Red Sox & Braves.

In the N.L., I'm guessing whoever wins the Phillies/Cardinals series will win it all.
Again, I'm hoping for the Yankees & Brewers, but conventional wisdom (which you can throw out the window when the playoffs start) has me guessing the Cardinals & Tigers.
(In which case I would HAVE to cheer for the Tigers).

The problem is the Red Sox don't spend money on back ups.....and with the injuries , losing Yuke for the year , Buchholtz for the year , Dice -K for the year..even Drew for the year...they didn't fill those holes with quality players....especially in the pitching....I blame Theo.......also i think they need a new pitching coach.....since Farrel left , it's been down hill.

Don't worry Red Sox fans, you'll have another chance to buy a World Series next year when you sign Prince Fielder.
MLB needs a salary cap! It's sad when a successful franchise can't afford to keep it's best young players, that they themselves developed, simply because of the financial disparity of the sport.

Hell , they were even in 1st place on Sept 3rd....there bad pitching caught up to them....and Beckett was awful and Lester in his last 3 starts was awful.....they should of made Aceves a starter...he was there best pitcher...Bard i think was over worked because Tito really didn't have confidence in his Pen.....But at least i get to see a couple of teams i do follow , and root for, play...Tampa even though they are in The Red Sox division they are just a fun team to watch....and the Brewers , because of Fielder and Braun.
