You're right-never been to it, hopefully someday.TommyBahama wrote:Garry, i would add AT&T Park or whatever they call it now ( Giants)...the views look incredible!!
I HAD been to the old Candlestick Park, and although it wasn't one of my favorites, it was still enjoyable.
Intresting story going to that stadium:
It was April 10, 1988. Padres vs. Giants-I'd never been to Candlestick before in my life, and I'd always heard horror stories of how cold, windy, dank, and dreary that place was.
Well, when I left Hawaii to move to Georgia, I'd stopped in Vallejo, CA for a few days to see one of my cousins & his family, who were living there at the time. While there, we decided to take the kids (and ourselves to a ball game).
I'd been to San Francisco a ga-zillion & one times, and knew the weather there, especially in early April could be iffy at best. So on this particular day, we all packed blankets, parkas, wrapped the kids up in several layers of clothing, and headed for the ball park.
April 10, 1988, San Francisco, CA-record high on that date, 91 degrees!!!
I don't think it's ever been 61 degrees on that date since then.

I think that the Cubs are better off.
I think that the Rays, with a full season of Matt Moore and Desmond Jennings to complement the rest of their amazing team, will dominate the AL East. Theo left at the best possible time.
the hit and run is as good as any religion around this time of year . . .

We were at the game, what a great night! Can't believe I was watching October baseball in Michigan in a t-shirt. Made for a late night, I think we got home about the same time Cabrera's home run landed.nutmeg wrote:Roar!![]()

Re: 2011 Major League Baseball
I think he bailed instead of fixing his mess.....he had 1 year left on his contract and he was taking some heat for some bad signing....mainly Lackey and Crawford........i have to give Crawford a pass this year...new city bigger expectations ........ i think he'll be fine,Wino you know wrote:Trust me, it won't make a difference.LIPH wrote:Just saw on ESPN Theo Epstein signed a 5 year contract to be the Cubs' GM.
Now lets see if Theo hires Tito, and Jimmy playes Wrigley, to break the curse. Some of the pieces would be in place.
Listening to WEEI today....they were talking how the new management will have to clear out some of the problems in the club house.....Trading Beckett was one of the things mentioned.
I agree with Jon on Tampa....if they could get another big bat in the line up, and a short stop that can give a little offense....they would be dangerous....I wonder if a guy like Ortiz would go there , thats if his option isn't picked up ....Scutero would be a good fit .....but i think Boston picks up his option ....it will be a interesting off season in Boston

It doesn't matter WHO the manager is, who the general manager is, or who the players are.
I've followed the Cubs for over 50 years, and they could have a pitching staff of Sandy Koufax, Cy Young, Walter Johnson, Whitey Ford, & Nolan Ryan when they were all in their heyday, and an outfield of Ted Williams, Joe Dimaggio, and Hank Aaron.
It wouldn't matter. They'd find ways to lose.
They're the Cubs.

I hope he takes Lackey with him. From what I have heard, he isn't really a "team" player.TommyBahama wrote:I think he bailed instead of fixing his mess.....he had 1 year left on his contract and he was taking some heat for some bad signing....mainly Lackey and Crawford........i have to give Crawford a pass this year...new city bigger expectations ........ i think he'll be fine,Wino you know wrote:Trust me, it won't make a difference.LIPH wrote:Just saw on ESPN Theo Epstein signed a 5 year contract to be the Cubs' GM.

With our luck the Tigs wouldn't score while Verlander is throwing up the zeros......then the Rangers would somehow scrape out on a run in the 11th to win it!nutmeg wrote:Sigh! I just hate the 11th inning....![]()

No Citizen Bank Park?
Citizen Bank Park? Is that Philadelphia? (I like to refer to stadiums by their NON-corporate names-i.e., COMISKEY PARK, TIGER STADIUM, SHEA STADIUM, ANAHEIM STADIUM, etc.).
As for PHILLIE STADIUM (or, as I like to call it, NEW CONNIE MACK STADIUM), for me to go anywhere in Philadelphia would be like a minnow going into a shark tank.
Just wouldn't be a happy outcome for Mrs. Joseph's son Garry.
