Chip, I'm jealous that you got to go to one of the playoff games. (and one we won )
Dr C - Finally some of the bats woke up. Was good to see Avila finally get a hit.
Oh and I especially enjoyed Inge's homerun the other night. He's been doing better than some of the big guns during this playoff series. After playing some time with the Mudhens yet.

Still hanging around. Happy at least the Rangers didn't get to celebrate it on our home turf......but not gonna give up till it's over.
This Rangers batting lineup is a clone of the "injury-free" lineup we were sporting in our September hot streak....with a little more power & a little more experience. Man, it's tough to shut them down!
Corona by day, Corona by night, any old time is just alright!
Starting pitching usually propels a team through the playoffs, yet that's about the only weak spot I see on the Rangers. Tigers need to score early and often, once that Ranger bullpen comes in it's lights out.
I was ready to throw the rubber brick at the TV when Leyland was on the top step of the dugout and Brad Penny was in the bullpen. Thankfully they both stayed put.

Trust me, it won't make a difference.
I think he bailed instead of fixing his mess.....he had 1 year left on his contract and he was taking some heat for some bad signing....mainly Lackey and Crawford........i have to give Crawford a pass this year...new city bigger expectations ........ i think he'll be fine,
Now lets see if Theo hires Tito, and Jimmy playes Wrigley, to break the curse. Some of the pieces would be in place.

It doesn't matter WHO the manager is, who the general manager is, or who the players are.
I've followed the Cubs for over 50 years, and they could have a pitching staff of Sandy Koufax, Cy Young, Walter Johnson, Whitey Ford, & Nolan Ryan when they were all in their heyday, and an outfield of Ted Williams, Joe Dimaggio, and Hank Aaron.
It wouldn't matter. They'd find ways to lose.
They're the Cubs.
Jon can tell you, I've been predicting for a while that Theo would leave, go somewhere, and hire Francona. We'll see...

The thing is, the Cubs don't learn from their mistakes. Their #1 draft pick (#7 overall) this year, Javier Baez, is the next Milton Bradley. Mark my words...bad dude.

Listening to WEEI today....they were talking how the new management will have to clear out some of the problems in the club house.....Trading Beckett was one of the things mentioned.
I agree with Jon on Tampa....if they could get another big bat in the line up, and a short stop that can give a little offense....they would be dangerous....I wonder if a guy like Ortiz would go there , thats if his option isn't picked up ....Scutero would be a good fit .....but i think Boston picks up his option ....it will be a interesting off season in Boston
I hope he takes Lackey with him. From what I have heard, he isn't really a "team" player.
As strange as it may sound...San Diego may be interested!!

Sounds like Management is going to play hardball on there compensation....i think they want to put the screws to Theo and make him stay ....... but , the only thing that does, is, you have a Lame Duck GM , who will leave after next year, and , the Red Sox get nothing
Rumors are rampant that it's all but a done deal that the Houston Astros will shift to the American League in 2012, thereby making both the A.L. and N.L. each a 15-team league.
If (when) this happens, it'll either mean more interleague play (UGH) or two or more teams will be off every day, rather than the usual Monday & Thursday travel days.

Personally I'm pulling for the switch.....then maybe the Orioles won't have the worst record in the AL in 2012!

And it continues ... Major League Baseball executive vice president of baseball operations Joe Torre says his office will look into the drinking that was going on during games in the Red Sox clubhouse this season.

"It’s something we’re going to look at and find the best way to approach it, let’s put it that way," he said. "That’s one thing where I feel comfortable, the fact that I played and I managed. I have no problem talking to someone in regards to baseball, whether it’s behavior or otherwise.”
