Songs about New Orleans

Post by Wildh2oskier »

I know this is a JB forum and our taste lean toward him, but we as a group have overall exquisite musical taste.

Here is todays question, if you were looking at making a 4 hour drive to New Orleans and had this crazy idea to load an MP3 player with songs from, and about New Orleans to listen to on the trip which ones would you have on it?

I would start with Steve Goodman's City of New Orleans, and would probably end with it too!

Besides 'City of New Orleans' the first thing that comes to mind is...

'New Orleans Lady'!

Do we add songs about South Louisiana or just NOLA?

I can think of lots of songs!

Goin' Down To New Orleans - Roger Bartlett
Got To Be New Orleans - Elvin Bishop
I'm Going Down To Bourbon Street - Waylon Thibodeaux
Little Old Town Called New Orleans - Jerry Jeff Walker
New Olreans Funk - Allen Toussaint
New Orleans Wins The War - Randy Newman
Sweet Home New Orleans - Dr. John
Walking To New Orleans - Fats Domino
