Westboro to spew its hate at Arizona shooting funerals

Post by ph4ever »

Westboro Baptist Church, the church of hate that pickets funerals to highlight its vile attacks, will picket the funeral of the little girl and five others who were killed in Saturday's shooting rampage.

Fred Phelps, in an offensive press release you may not want to read in full, announced Sunday he will bring his tiny band of followers, fresh from last month's Elizabeth Edwards funeral, to this wounded city because, "That's how God the avenger rolls," he says.

That is evil. That church is ruled by the devil. The truth is the truth.
And I agree, I can't wait for what goes around to come around to them.

One day, one of the members of his "church" is going to die and there is going to be a big rally at the person's funeral replete with balloons and a marching band.

I hope it's soon. I hope it's that old bastard that runs that "church" or

I'm not going to read the press release because I refuse to give them the time. Just because a group issues a press release doesn't mean the media outlets have to give it time or space. If the media would ignore them they might not go away but their voice wouldn't carry as far.

The AZ legislature is supposed to pass a bill today banning demonstrations at funerals. I hope they show up and get their asses thrown in jail.

Also, some locals are volunteering to help keep the Phelpies from the mourners through an "angel action:"

Seems like a positive response to me.

I don't think this is possible because it brings ratings for all forms of media. It is an easy day of programming for a radio talk show host to bring it up. It is an easy interview for both left and right wing "news" shows. I've seen these b00bs interviewed on both pmsNBC and Faux news, it is an amusing yet depressing interview. Now where they are getting their money is another thing. I do wonder if IRS or some other financial investigative body has ever audited their books. I am sure they are attempting to operate as a non-profit so I wouldn't be surprised if there weren't some compliance issues.

I am also surprised that nobody in their band of protesters haven't been injured at some point. There are a lot of bizarre things that could happen when there are no witnesses.

Part of the problem is our 24/7 need for information. In the olden days we sat around at 6:00 and watched the likes of Walter Cronkite who had half an hour or so to tell us about IMPORTANT issues, not garbage.

They passed it, but the ban is not outright, just no demonstrations within 300ft. That's the best they can do. I know the Tucson community will rally around these families and protect them.

Unfortunately, I don't consider this action any more than a knee jerk feel good reaction by the legislature. This won't stop them anyway. Generally they show up on the procession route, I don't think a public area along a road would be considered part of the funeral area. These clowns show up at a lot of high profile emotional events, there is always an angel group or motorcycle club that shows up to shield the mourners. A new law isn't the correct action. Besides even if the governor signs the law immediately, generally there is a waiting period before a new law takes effect. They will be long gone before the law is enforced.

The Patriot Guard Riders don't just show up for the funerals. They have to be asked by the family of the deceased.

Since it is an emergency legislation, it would go into effect as soon as Gov Brewer signs it. It's modeled on an Ohio law that was upheld by the 6th U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals. And you're right, it doesn't cover the whole processional route, just a funeral or burial service, from one hour before to one hour after.

As for why these asswipes are protesting: The Westboro Baptist Church said Monday it plans to picket Thursday's funeral for Christina Taylor Green because ``God sent the shooter to deal with idolatrous America.''

How come Darwin hasn't eliminated these cretins from this Earth? They're really too stupid to live. :-? :x

Sigh. As conservative as I am......every so often I question the wisdom of the 1st amendment.

I think I should be allowed to exercise my 1st amendment right to whup some a$$. Might be worth the jail time, to be honest.

I made it through a minute or so (almost stopped when I saw that the web address was godhatesfags.com) but I finally quit when I realized he had no message of love or hope or promise. He is, and i apologize to anyone this might offend, an offshoot of Hitler, born from his philosphy, and that got me to thinking.

I think it was 1984, maybe '86. The philidelphia governemnt had a problem with an orginization called (I think) move or move up. So they dealt with them tactically.

they bombed an entire block of row houses.

Now, I'm sure that over the years they paid for it through lawsuits, and I certainly don't condone the actions that they took. But I am left thinking...

You think they got one bomb left for westboror?

(And before anyone says it, yes, violence doesn't end violence; it usually creates more retribution than a peaceful resolution would. But knowing that his church is barely a church and more a dysfunctional collection of family members who were brought up immersed in this doctrine of hatred, maybe a taste of their own medicine might just be what they need.
Take me for what I am, a star newly emerging.
I accept the new found man, and I set the twilight reeling.
