Dire Straits....literally

Post by wiscoleeds »

It's turning into a mad, mad world.

Perhaps the lyrics can be "corrected" like they're doing with Huck Finn novel.

Ah, the thought police are starting to gain control.

Cheers

Yet another sign that the Apocalypse is getting closer.

Well . . . wasn't it about 40 years ago that somebody said that PCs would take over the world?
I don't think this is what they meant!

I wonder if Tinkerbell can get a job in Canada.

It is my understanding that Tinkerbell is a pixie, not a fairy.
And yes, there is a difference.

There seems to be some debate on that . . .

Disney says she's a fairy:

Pixie or Fairy or whatever (and in the movie they called her a "pixie devil").....
Tinkerbell kicks ass and takes names and probably scared the bejeezus
out of that goofy looking show stealing pirate in the movie "Hook".

They've just been banned from airplay in Canada, the record itself hasn't been banned.

my opinion is that if a person doesn't want to be called a f****t then don't be one, it's just a word

Can't say I agree with that logic (or lack thereof) as I don't think people that are homosexual choose to be that way.

As for the controversy over the song, it's a character uttering the word "faggot", not Mark Knopfler himself as is explained in this article.
