So according to her lawyer it's somebody else's fault because his client is a f'n a-hole who's oblivious to what's going on around her? You've watched the video 700 times. Now, hear from the woman who'll never die down from the embarrassment…and is holding those accountable for posting this video on the internet.
Cathy Cruz Marrero is a 49-year-old born again Christian woman from Reading, PA. On that fateful day when security camera picked up her accident, Cathy was leaving her job at one of the stores at the mall and texting a friend about her birthday.
Then….SPLASH! She recalls to sources:
"I saw the water coming at me, I could see the pennies and nickels at the bottom of the fountain and then I was in it."
Thankfully, she wasn't hurt, at least physically. Emotionally, she's been a wreck ever since the video has been posted on YouTube. Mortified and a bit concerned over why no one came to help her, we've learned she's hired a lawyer, who plans to conduct an investigation into what happened. Her lawyer explains:
"We are troubled by the fact that anyone at the Berkshire Mall responsible for releasing this video would find humor in an employee injured on the premises. We intend to hold the appropriate persons responsible. No one from that security office came to her aid in a timely manner."
That's true. She could have been severely hurt had there been no water in there. But then again, to the security's credit, she walked away unscathed so all's well that ends well, right?

Re: Texting Failure
According to my viewing of the video, with a stopwatch, she was in the fountain for a total of 9.37 seconds — which is about the same time it would take the fastest man in the world to run 100 yards. And she expects some overweight rent-a-cop at the mall to be there by the time she flounders out of the water?
But there is hope for her, provided she buys an Android-powered phone to replace the one she dunked in the fountain. Check out the latest advance in cellphones for texting on the go.....link ► Texting While Walking? Android has an app for that!

I wouldn't doubt her lawyer will then go sue the cell phone and the cellular service saying that they should have had a warning that says that one should not text and walk.ScarletB wrote:Which proves the point I made several posts agoLIPH wrote:So according to her lawyer it's somebody else's fault because his client is a f'n a-hole who's oblivious to what's going on around her? If you want an experience, go to a Jimmy Buffett concert.
Experience is something you don't get until just after you need it.
Life is short, live long!!
I'd rather be a wiseass than a dumbass.

Re: Texting Failure
I agree that it's no one's fault but her own that she fell in the fountain, but I don't think the video is funny.
It is concerning to me that security footage ended up on the internet. After all, a lot of stores do have cameras in dressing rooms too. While these are fairly frivolous grounds for a lawsuit, I think it is reasonable to expect there be repercussions of some sort for the employees that posted the video.

I believe in some states it's illegal to have cameras in dressing rooms.
We've become a litigious society and have too many bs rules and "warnings" because of the stupid suit happy people out there. Like the woman who sued McDonalds because she spilt her coffee and it burned her. HELLO? Coffee is supposed to be hot, it's not McDonalds fault you spilled your coffee. She's the reason we have warnings on coffee "contents may be hot" no freaking duh it's coffee it's supposed to be hot.
Dumbass woman should have been watching where she was walking. She works there and knew there was a fountain there too. What next, dumbass walks through the mall with his eyes closed and runs into a wall and sues?
stepping off soapbox now...

Re: Texting Failure
Its probably the same lawyer that represented her in court today for her theft charges..
Linky
In the hours that followed Cathy Cruz Marrero's appearance on "Good Morning America" today to talk about the fall and its aftermath, she was in court for a status hearing on charges of five felony counts, including theft by deception and receiving stolen property.
Rub yours on me and I'll rub mine on you

I wouldn't recognize my best friend in that video! How the heck can she be that humiliated unless she just wants the attention to get out of her job at the mall.ph4ever wrote:According to Perez Hilton, she's lawyered up:![]()

She didn't just spill her coffee. She got it at the drive thru window, put it between her legs and drove off. What kind of maroon puts a cup of hot coffee between her legs while she's driving a car? The gene pool really needs thinning.ph4ever wrote:We've become a litigious society and have too many bs rules and "warnings" because of the stupid suit happy people out there. I think its pathetic that a person would and could file a law suit and maybe even win, because he is stupid.
I watched it several times and it looks to me she knew what she was doing. She lifted her knee to place it
on the edge. IMHO... looks like a set up to me.
The funniest part to me is the people in the security office.

Life is short... forgive quickly, kiss slowly, love truly, laugh uncontrollably, and never regret anything that made you smile.
