If you are going with a group you might want to try VRBO for a place to stay might end up being less expensive than a hotel! have a great time everyone! :D

Terrible terrible news today. With 364 other days on the whole freakin' calendar I just fund outthat my 4 year old daughters dance recital is naturally on May 7th.
I realize that in the great cosmic scheme of things there is no conflict (I will pass on the greatest musical weekend of the year and attend the dance recital) but to say that I am heart broken at this time is quite the understatement.

I will be down there 5/4-5/10.....Me and 3 others from Rochester, NY. We are doing the Grand Marshall VIP ticket for the 2nd weekend. It's pricey but allows you to get up front to the three main stages at any time (stage hop all day). Allows you your own restrooms and concession stands. For those of you going just to see jimmy, if you want to get anywhere near the stage you need to get there early and stand all day until he plays. He should be on the Acura stage, which is the main stage of main stages, lol. usually headliner plays at 5pm, the fest ends at 7pm, but usually goes till about 730, look for a 2 hour set minimum. CAN'T WAIT!!!!

Seriously.......she's 4......you'll have 10 other ones until she says "Daddy I think I'm going to be a cheerleader". Or swimmer. Or lacrosse player. Or........ She won't remember that you not there......now your wife is another issue..... :o
And yes.....I've dumped my youngest at college 3 days early so I could go to a concert.....

Those tickets sound great but knowing I can only be there one maybe two days does not make that work for me .........BUT I was told today that I will get a wristband to get into the Fais Do Do Hopitality tent. Do you know anything about it? This will be my first JF.
I am president of a user group that is holding a meeting at the Sheraton during JazzFest so I really lucked out on that........ I will be in town 5/3 - 5/8. I hope to also hear some great music around town in the evenings!

A college age kid would understand. The 4 year old has all ready started showing daddy the dance she's going to get to do. Much as I love and respect Jimmy he's not going to help pick out my nursing home one day. To paraphrase him he said that a songwriting daddy who doesn't write a song about his girls is going to go to hell or something like that (I'm sure someone can provide the correct quote on here) So a Daddy who skips out on his daughters performance at 4....well I don't want to risk Jimmy's wrath.

While this will be my first Jazzfest also, I have been to NOLA many times. The following link to the local paper has lots of info for the first timer.
