Roses & Thorns......

Roses

Great Concert!
Great Set List!
Great to see Phriends!
Great Food!
Did not run out of ice or rum!
My concert photos came out better than I expected for being as far away as I was.

Thorns

My biggest Thorn is that there's so many!!!
#1 - The City Of Camden
Their inability or unwillingness to adapt to the Buffett crowds. After how many years???
A) - Parking
B) - Tents/EZ Ups
C) - Inconsistent enforcement of "laws"/"rules"*
D) - Lack of sound reasoning behind most of the "offical" decissions* made concerning Buffett tailgating
*failure to make these known.(C & D)

#2 - Getting seperated again this year. (Bus next year?!)

#3 - StubHub selling my seats in Row B to somebody the day after I had purchased them for $30 more.

#4 My 25yr old friend Lou getting arrested for an open container on his way in (on a bike surray) and spending the entire concert in the backseat of a cop car while underage drinking was everywhere including a group of 17yr old girls who drank all afternoon next to us.

#5 - No 2011 BN group photo!!! WTF!

Image

I go to bed a happy man. Thanks Jimmy for bringing us together for another unforgettable day!!!

As everyone already knows we had a horrible time getting into the lots.

We had a great time with our BN friends (even if our time together was cut short by 3 hours because of horrible time getting ito the lots).

We had a great set list.

We had a not-so-great time getting minor rear-ended in the parking lot after the show.

We love our BN PHRIENDS!!!

Had a great time at the show yesterday but the parking situation is an absolute nightmare. Last year it was 80 bucks to park an rv, this year $200. Do you believe that! SO not only do they give you a bag of crap for showing up and 10am and send you packing to drive all over Camden in a 35 foot rv 3 hours, NOT FUN by the way. They then proceed to gouge you by charging 200 bucks. Crazy! Sorry for ranting!! Great concert and had a great time as we always do!! Fins up!!

It's the morning after and cooler heads prevail?

Diane and I have talked and we will never tailgate in Camden again unless we go in on a bus. We will take the train in if we decide to see the show. And we will go somewhere else to another show to tailgate if we have to. The negative vibe, the stress, the aggravation and frustration of the drive in. And then getting separated from people that you only get to see a couple time a year just plain sucks. There's no way I'm going though that bull shirt again.

Bus or Bust for us....

I had to miss the Camden show for the first time in 15 years, & although I feel bad missing everyone, I don't miss all the BS in Camden, which seems to get worse every year.
After going to the KC /ZBB show at the Linc last Sat. can't help wonder how much better off it would be if Jimmy could come back to Phila.

Lots open by 8 am,
no hassles, park where you want.
Closer walk to the venue,
Easier drive in & out of the lots
etc.....

I guess it's a bigger expense for the Linc or CBP, but I'm sure they could work things out if they really want to, plus look at the extra $ in ticket sales; especially the Linc which is pretty much idle all summer ( and maybe the fall too !) Heck, it was just in concert mode last Sat. would've worked out nice if Jimmy could've moved right in. Maybe he could add ZBB to his tour next year ?

All us BNer's should have some pull right ???

Anyway, I was glad to make it to Nadirah's show wednesday night, great seeing you guys & found me a new stop on my way home from Phillies games! Fanstastic show at great place - A Taste of Key West, right of Ridley Park Exit 8 of 95, great atmsophere, great people, food & drinks!
Thanks Deb & Tom!!

Your thoughts on the Linc are exactly what I was thinking yesterday when my blood was starting to percolate with the parking situation. Place holds I believe 40-60k for a concert. It might be more expennsive to play there but the additional ticket sales revenue ought to take care of that, only having to do one area show would negate some costs as well. Jimmy normally does 2 camden shows.
The only positivive thing I can say about Camden is that acoustically the music sounds better at that type of venue. I vote for him coming back to the philly side of the river where the police and parking lot people know how to handle large tailgate events!!

What a great day. Getting into the lots sucked more than ever. After a nice visit on the streets of Camden, we all got seperated, not just by a few rows, by 10 lots! But that aside I had a great time with the people I could get to and met some nice new phriends. Thanks for a great time everyone. Now, before this thread gets shut down we need to start a Camden/Philly MOTM 2012 thread so we can begin to discuss this bus idea. The way I see it. We wouldn't all need to bring the huge amount of gear we always do, we can delegate and share since we will be guaranteed to be together if we all show up in one big bus. We pay at least $25 per car to park, put that towards a bus and it isn't going to cost much more. If we get turned away at the gates at 11am our paid driver will drive us around while we talk, sing, drink and don't get frustrated until the lots open. Besides having to load and unload gear in the am and pm, I don't see any other drawbacks to a bus. Who's with me?

Once we were finally parked, had a great time. Have seen a number of other shows in Camden and could not recall parking ever being so much of a pain in the ascot. As we came in we found lot 11 already closed. Then were directed to literally 5 other lots that closed as we were about two cars away from getting in. Finally got into the warehouse lot located outside the back of the lawn area.

What a nightmare!! Did not get to meet any BNers so maybe next time!

Wonderful set! People were mostly cool and protective around our baby, but towards the end the underagers were getting very rowdy so we left the lawn.

So all in all, we loved JB but no Camden fan...not to mention it took an hour to get to our hotel in Mt Laurel with all the bassackward jersey roads!

Would love to see Jimmy team up with ZBB & another band or two. Keep the ticket price down and you'll sell that place out. The Linc that is. CBP will not do anymore concerts after the feild got ruined last time. Never mind it was a freak storm. Anywhere but Camden....

I have posted my tailgate photos on Facebook.
You don't have to be on FB to view.
Tag if you wish. Comment if you wish.
But Enjoy!!!
As I post these I look outside at the thunder & lightning and thank God for a nice day yesterday.
Little drizzle, little humid, little hot inside. They can all be dealt with and powered through.
Lightning is a whole other story!!!

Camden was always such a good time and good lot when I used to go ... hate to hear how bad it was this year for everyone

My buddy went last night and gave a call that pretty much everything associated with the lots were horrible, almost as bad as merriweather used to be .... but maybe even worse because instead of being in the woods by a shopping center, you are in camden

Said it was an absolutely fantastic show though

I would normally agree with acoustics although I must say I was VERY impressed with the sound at KC/ZBB & I was in the Club level pretty far back., They had banks of speakers suspended half way back, even the 200 level had to be as good as or better than the lawn.
One more perk, the club level has extra wide padded seats, a few steps away from a fully AIR CONDITIONED lounge, restroom, bar, and upgraded restaurant area. Kenny really has it together with his shows. Although a young lady next to me threw up all over, but I guess you're not gonna avoid that wherever you go !

Well we got in around 2 AM at my brother's house. Loaded my stuff into my
truck, unloaded, showered, in bed by 2:44. We served about 250 cranberry
margaritas yesterday. Problem was the constant "You're gonna do one with
us, right?" So I had more than I should have. We gave out a bunch of hamburgers
also. Many thanks for the great gumbo, brats, and oriental pasta salad folks.
Still trying to figure out why I was paddled by the Texas A&M girl.
Camden really has to get their act together. Lousy traffic management before
the show. Inconsistent law enforcement. Other than that had a great time.
Show was awesome. Lawn did not seem that crowded. :pirate:

I got caught up in the parking mess too. We ended up behind Campbell's Field with a lot of busses and the Mango Men, I think we were pretty far from the rest of the BN crew.

Speaking of busses, I ran a bus down a few years ago and it was a lot of fun, best part we were all together. I looked into running a bus again last year and the prices went up a lot (for Buffett only). Still a good idea, but more expensive than it used to be.

If we did consider a bus (or busses) we might be able to have one from the Jersey Side, one from the PA side.

But it was a good show, good set list and the weather turned out to be great.

The only thing I would add to what everyone has added is that we should start a new thread..." who went through the worst part of Camden on the way out of town". We might win that :)
I wanted to go up Cooper for the Ben Franklin but got kicked right several times by camden PD. I finally asked a cop HOW I'm getting on the Ben if you won't let me go left...he says take the Walt. I didn't want the Walt so we make a left on a side street...bad turned worse...looked like Escape From NY. I did'nt stop at any stop signs considering it was midnight :) Finally we got to 676 and the Ben...never so happy to be back in DT Philly LOL
