The timing may be no coincidence, eh?
$#@&...only Vegas again?? Padres ...gotta start believin'!Bring on '14 Spring Training!
Didn't see it so I don't know the context, but it was really a resignation? I'm thinking a week off to cool down, and then return the following week. Which is also a sweeps week rating period.

It didn't seem to be so much a "I'm going on to other things" as it was "They're handing me my hat"
I wish I had his vocabulary. Everytime I listened to one of his special comments he had me reaching for the dictionary.
From MSNBC: Starting Monday, “The Last Word with Lawrence O’Donnell” will move to 8 p.m. ET/PT and “The Ed Show,” hosted by Ed Schultz, will move to 10 p.m. ET/PT
It seems there was a lot of animosity between Olbermann and the management stemming from his donations to candidates. I don't know that his departure was amicable, but I think he left on his terms.
He began that section of the show by saying that he had been told that tonight would be his last broadcast. Reports seem to indicate that his departure had been in negotiation much of the week--clearly not his choice. Analysts on CNN said that Jeff Zucker had really protected Olbermann, and that Keith had been on thin ice with management for quite a while.
Controversial--absolutely. Unabashed liberal--absolutely. But Keith is a very bright man who helped put MSNBC on the map. His early Special Comments were really outstanding, and were done at a time when he was just about the only liberal voice on tv. He brought Rachel Maddow and Lawrence O'Donnell on the air and that shaped MSNBC's prime time line-up.
I happen to be a big fan of his. He caused me to cheer at times, cry at other times (especially some of those Special Comments). He angered my at times, and he educated me many times, and I will miss his wisdom, his articulateness and his passion.
Eager to see what his next move will be.

I've heard of him but never watched so "I don't know and I don't care" (hey I've heard that somewhere).
I'm not big on wasting my time watching politcal stuff.....there are far too many Real Housewives shows on for that
