There are a lot of bow hunters.
True Skibo but being a PA hunter myself we are also locked and loaded! At one point not so long ago a reported 1 million people hunted on the first day of deer season in PA (traditionally the first Monday after Thanksgiving). With the increase in bow hunting popularity and other special seasons plus the younger generation not following in their forefather's footsteps - the number of traditional "rifle season" hunters has come down substanially...I think the last number I heard was about 600,000. Add in the fact that the PA deer herd is is bad shape in the mountains/northern tier of the state, we just may give up this distiction. We do have a large black bear and turkey population as well as a huntable elk herd with some trophies taken each year.

We really do have fantastic programs to help alleviate College costs.....I started paying in the "Prepaid College Fund" for Laura when she was young..and it was between $20 and $30 a month..No change, ever..No matter what the economy did...I paid for 4 years and Room & Board...
Then, in High School, if the kids take Honors, and AP courses, and maintain a certain GPA? They get the "Bright Futures" scholarship, either 100%, 75% or 50%....Laura got the 75% scholarship and maintained the GPA in college needed to keep that scholarship.....That pays 1st, then they take the remaining out of the Prepaid program...and there was enough money for books, the cafeteria card, etc....because of the Bright Futures picking up 75%....
She moved home in her Junior year, so no more Room & Board, and that freed up even more money...Went to UNF in Jacksonville.....
We never had to spend one dime when she was in College, and she graduated with over 10K in her checking acct! (extra monies from prepaid rolled over in to her account)
Wonderful programs to help the kids go to College, and they really push it on them, starting in Kindergarten...going to college, that is.
Yep..Great programs...and you never even missed that $24 a month...It was awesome!
