I did Wednesday....this week has been a real ball buster and I was just too tired....besides, I knew I needed to rest up to get thru the rest of the week and work the Michael Franti show tonight.
But talking to Nancy, who had the tix, she said it was probably the best show she's ever been to, and she's been following Grace for years as Marilyn & I have, so I kinda wish I had sucked it up and went

I watched Grace Potter's episode of "VH! Storytellers".....I cannot believe she wrote "Apologies" when she was 18 years old...
that song can totally unhinge me.....

Another AMAZING nice with Grace Potter & the Nocturnals......
She was her usual powerhouse self......with a few moments of incredible softness and vulnerability.
Her new song "Stars" is absolutely beautiful......she sings it with such emotion.
I love the Goddess Grace!
Here's a few pics from the show, we were fortunate enough to get right up to the stage!

She and her band is a quick-rising star, and getting bigger fast!

For sure.....I love that they're getting the recognition they deserve....BUT makes me kind of sad that the days of seeing them in small, intimate venues is getting close to being over. I can always say, "I saw them when...."

saw a 2012 college football promo this morning.........featuring the title cut from the new GPN album, The Lion, The Beast, The Beat. Fit in perfectly!
Also, am no longer a GPN concert virgin as we caught the show last Thursday in the friendly confines of Frederick Meijer Gardens Amphitheatre. Very good. Although with an 8:00 start while it was still daylight, me thinks an indoor show or later start in the dark would have been a little more vibe friendly. Unfortunately, curfew rules made for the early start. Fortunately, the rains subsided during the break between the opening act & GPN.....so we had that going for us.....which was NICE!
Solid performance by Miss Potter & the gang. While I kind of knew what to expect song wise, the cover of White Rabbit was awesome! And the 1 thing I thought was pretty cool was at the end of "Medicine" where the entire band ends up at the drum kit beating on whatever they can.
As mentioned previously, would like to see these guys again in the intimate setting before they become full-timers on the "arena" stage.

The "Medicine" encore is one of my favorite things they do!!
I just got tickets to see them again in October.....super intimate venue, I'm so stoked!
Her cover of "White Rabbit" is just so sensual....I love it!

The first time I saw them do the communal drum solo (or quadruple, since there were 4 of them) they did it during Nothing But The Water.
They're doing 2 shows at the Beacon Theater in NYC in November but there's a chance I may not be in NY then so I had to pass on buying tickets. At least for now.

So while I previously liked the GPN band......unfortunately their Karma has turned me away as of now.
Last summer, the first time my wife & I saw Grace & the band was the day our friends had their sons funeral.
Then, we bought tix in November to see them in January with that same couple. The show ended up being the day after the doctors told me there was nothing more they could do save my wife's life & 2 days before her passing. Too F'n much!
Needless to say I don't think I'll be able to see another GPN show again. I haven't even been able to listen to any of their songs. I know it's stupid but that's just the way I feel as of now.
