As Hurricane Irene continues to progress, Amtrak is canceling train service for Friday, Saturday and Sunday operating south of Washington. Additional cancellations may be necessary in the coming days as the major storm moves north. Currently, service on the Northeast Corridor is not affected.
this being the case, and in Jimmy's flipflops, I would consider the show postponed. The logistics of getting people in there, out of there, etc., easier to tack it on later or let the Lube take one for the team in the name of safety. It also gives the option of refunds, and those folks who were offended by the stealth decision to ban tailgating can vote their opinion of that decision with their wallets
Concerts scheduled for both Gillette Stadium and Greatwoods for this weekend have now been postponed and rescheduled.

All I see is the Sunday KC/ZBB being moved to Friday, so far it looks like Saturday is still on.

Yes, only the Sunday show at Gillette has been rescheduled, sorry for the confusion.

There's nothing about that on their FB page.
That sounds like a rumor.

I was told that this happened in MA a few years ago and Jimmy decided to start the concert EARLY the same day instead of cancelling it. I was also told to keep checking Margaritaville.com for any possible announcements or updates!

Though there's trouble on the horizon, we'll be surfing in a huricane up to DC in the morning. We'll see what happens and take our chances. If we end up cowering in the hotel parking lot and tailgating until Sunday, so be it! Hope to see y'all in the lots! I'll be on here with updates as the day goes on Saturday if things are a go.

Latest forecast has Irene going directly over Ocean City MD.........which is about 100 miles as the crow flies. The storm is about 200 miles wide. Rain in the afternoon with the bulk starting about 7-8 PM. 20 - 30 MPH with gusts 60 - 80 mph. Hold on to your hats! :o

even if the timing of the storm allows for people to make it to and from the venue for the show safely, those of you who aren't local and have never been in the path of a major hurricane may not be considering what things will be like in the area after the storm is over on Sunday... the area was already under a flood watch today due to rain that was unrelated to the storm. it's possible that the power and water in the area may be out for days or weeks. if there is flooding or trees are in the road, local officials may require that people stay in their homes/hotels until conditions are safe for travel, which could take days (or in an extreme example in eastern NC, it took over a month for the the highway dept to allow travel in the area). so you may not be able to return home after it's over. even if you aren't concerned about your own safety when traveling, you being on the road interferes with local efforts to restore power, water and the roads for the folks that live in the area...

•Irene will be a serious and multi-hazard threat for the major metropolitan areas of the Mid-Atlantic and Northeast. This includes Norfolk, Washington, D.C., Baltimore, Philadelphia, New York City, Hartford, and Boston. This hurricane has the potential to produce flooding rains, high winds, downed trees (on houses, cars, power lines) and widespread power outages. Significant impacts along the immediate coast include high waves, surge and beach erosion.

I guess there really IS no dumb ass vaccine.

All of the local reports I'm seeing say the area JLL is in will be getting 1-3 inches of rain. East of I-95 is where it gets worse. Based on that info, I'm expecting rain with and that's about it.

Folks. Aim your frustrations at Jiffy Lube Live and Hurricane Irene.

Not each other.

Let's not over react to comments and observations.
Let's not be flippant about what we comment on either,
.... it can be misinterpreted.

I get that, but this is a dangerous event, states of emergency have been declared everywhere - traveling in it seems at direct odds with making the best of anything. I likely wouldn't have made the comment if your post wasn't so "frat boy party hearty at any cost" in tone. I apologize, knock yourself out. I sincerely hope it turns out the way you're hoping. And it was directed at you because you were the only one talking about throwing caution to the wind and going anyway.

Well at least this settles the tailgating issue, I think the concert might be held earlier (if at all) to beat the storm ... (Didn't that happen during Hurricane Hannah?)
