Yes it did, it was very cool. Although by the time it got here it was only a tropical storm with a boatload of rain and not much else. It wasn't predicted to be quite as bad as what VA will be getting. Although maybe the local reports are better.

The hurricane Hannah show was at Greatwoods in 2008 and instead of starting at 8pm
Jimmy started the show at 3pm. With the timeline for Irene that time change will not work unless Jimmy decides to do his first ever brunch show.

Did anyone else just hear Jimmy say in Indy tonight "that the show must go on come hell or high water." ? Hope it is cancelled and JLL can eat it.

Yep, we heard it.....we still plan to see John Prine tomorrow night and then see what the powers that be decide for Saturday....

But at GW the stage was already set up. Right now it's 600 miles away and no telling if they could get the trucks (safely) to Bristow and get everything set up for a Saturday noon show....

I just did a layover of AccuWeather.com's current track for the storm with a Google Maps location point for JLL. Based on that, it's not in the area designated as the storm track. Some sites show a wider area, but it would still be on the outskirts of it. I'm not worried at this point. Based on this, the worst wouldn't hit there until the next morning anyway.

But that's the HURRICANE wind envelope. The Tropical Storm force wind envelope is MUCH bigger........

Gotta think at this point it may be a full on GO or NO GO. If they were going to do the show early on Saturday I think he would have announced it tonight so people could adjust plans (just like he announced the early start of the Saturday GW Hurricane Hannah show on Thursday).

The hurricane is currently 200 miles wide at this point.

Even so, everything I am seeing indicates to me that the threat here is more the next morning and all of the local forecasters are talking about what's going to be happening well east of JLL. Haven't seen any of the few forecasters I've watched show a map with JLL's area in a higher risk area.

As much as I want to see Bubba and BN friends, a big part of me wants him to cancel the show. I just think its too risky
for those of us that have to travel. I also think it would be a big "take that" with all the tickets that would be turned in due
to the tailgating issue. Only time will tell.....debating on making the jello shots!!

What is known at this point is that Irene is a major hurricane that covers a wide area (The Weather Channel estimates the cloud field at 450 miles, the distance between Baltimore, MD & Portland, ME). No matter where you are in the mid-Atlantic between Saturday & Sunday you will be impacted in some manner by wind, rain, possible power outages, downed trees, blocked roads.....you name it.
The Governor of Virginia has declared a state of emergency in advance of the storm:
http://www.washingtontimes.com/news/201 ... ead-irene/
If the earlier post is correct about it being Jimmy's call whether the concert goes on and he doesn't plan to make a decision until the day of the show, I am very disappointed in his judgment. He has to understand that many Parrotheads will be foolish enough to try to attend if the show isn't canceled. This not only puts his fans in a potentially dangerous situation, but also himself, his band, his road crew, and venue personnel.
C'mon Jimmy, use your common sense and cancel this show........

Based on the comment on JLL's site that they are monitoring the weather with local authorities etc. it doesn't sound to me like it's Jimmy's call. How can an entertainer possibly have accurate on the ground knowledge sufficient to make this decision?

I agree, just going by an earlier post here. I have no personal knowledge of how the concert business works.
But SOMEONE needs to cancel this show.........and quickly!

After what happened with the stage collapse in Indiana you would hope that no one wants to take any chances

They're calling for it to start raining heavily HERE (VERMONT) on Saturday night so I can't imagine what's going to be happening closer to the actual bulk of the storm. Please be careful.

Yes, you'd think that public safety would be at the top of everyone's list.........

I agree someone needs to be the grownup here. Unfortunately when money is on the line.....
I'm certain that JLL knows that just about everyone is going to want their money back as opposed to tickets to a rescheduled event.
