i think u will be fine...if the eye is suppose to hit land in New Haven, CT and up towards Hartford and Springfield ( as of this morning).....Nantucket is pretty far away.....so i think it will be fine.....and change east....then it could be a problem....my parents are going to Cape may in 2 weeks....they may have some issues.ScarletB wrote:parothdlar wrote:Okay this is starting to pi** me off SOMEONE FREAKIN CANCEL THIS SHOW !!!!! We will. We are optomistic but not stupid (really, we're not). We are excited for the John Prine show tonight and we will follow whatever directives are issued in VA concerning Ms. Irene. If we need to stay another night to avoid a dangerous drive home we will certainly do so.dnw wrote:Linda, stay safe.

My fav site for accurate weather http://www.washingtonpost.com/blogs/cap ... #pagebreak
We are now under a tropical storm WARNING.
tropical storm conditions across the D.C. metro area Saturday afternoon into evening. Sustained winds may reach up to near 30-35 mph with occasional gusts generally to near 60 mph, especially eastern suburbs Saturday night into Sunday morning, potentially causing siginificant scattered power outages.
When will the rain begin? Lighter showers might arrive in the morning, but the heavy stuff should wait for later morning/afternoon east of the Bay, and afternoon into evening in the immediate metro area, lasting into Sunday morning. Some flooding due to rain is a decent risk, esepcially east of I-95 in low-lying areas.
Winds: Generally up to 30-35 mph sustained (gusts to around 50-60 mph) looks to be range in the D.C. metro area, except lower the further west you go from the District.

See, now, based on the forecast in this blog, I'd bet the show is a go. Bristow is far enough away from the current forecast storm track that the wind could be a mere 20-30 mph. JB and JLL are responsible for safety AT THE VENUE, not for the safety of people traveling in for the show. People have to make their own safety decisions if they're coming from places where the weather is worse or potentially worse. I'd love to be at this show and at Mac's show on Sunday (for which I have tickets) but I'm canceling my travel plans because of the potential for damage at home, not because of concerns about the conditions in Northern VA.Griz wrote:My fav site for accurate weather http://www.washingtonpost.com/blogs/cap ... #pagebreak

If they end up cancelling the concert you can just throw a hotel party and replay a show from somebody's iPod. You wouldn't even have to pay $9 for beer!Saltx3 wrote:We will. That's pretty consistent with what I've been hearing the local forecasters say.SchoolGirlHeart wrote:See, now, based on the forecast in this blog, I'd bet the show is a go. It's been rescheduled:
Due to the predicted impact of Hurricane Irene and forcasted high
sustained winds and heavy rain for the DC Metro area, Live Nation is announcing the postponement of the Jimmy Buffett & The Coral Reefer Band concert scheduled for Saturday August 27th at Jiffy Lube Live. The concert has been rescheduled to take place on Thursday, September 1st. All tickets purchased for the postponed concert will be honored on the new date.
