Hi all. I don't get much of a chance to post here, but check in now and then. I have been going to Buffett concerts for many years, many of them at Merriweather Post and Nissan/Jiffy Lube Live Pavilions. Over the years we have heard how there was no tailgating, and that always proved to be false. I just recieved my tickets for the August 27th show today, and right at the top of each ticket it states NO TAILGATING. This is the first time I have ever seen this put on the tickets. Just giving everyone a heads up about this. I also purchased the VIP parking on Monday. How bad would that s*** if there's no tailgating this year. If that happens, you can bet it will be the last year he plays at Bristow. It happened at Merriweather, and looks like it might be happening here. I hope I'm wrong. Any insight would be appreciated.
I made enough money to buy Miami but I p*** it away so fast.

Just to add to my last post. I contacted Jiffy Lube Live and asked them about the No tailgating policy. They informed me that there will be no tailgating at any of their shows this year. They said that the police forced them to ban tailgating from their venue this year. They informed me that the parking lots will open 1-2 hours before the gates open for the concert. So we are looking at 4-5 p.m. for the parking lots to open.

Don't they say that every year?

I believe this is the same crap we here every year. If you act like an a$$ when you tailgate the cops will bother you. In my three years or for years of going there the only thing I was asked to do was cover up my case of redstripe under our table. As far as opening lots yep same thing we here every year. I dont think they will be jamming up that road.

I agree, but I just thought it was odd that they actually printed it on the tickets this year.

If anyone is interested, VIP parking tix are now available on the Live Nation site. We like to park there because there are nice areas with trees and you can spread out a bit.

They do say that every year it seems... If they enforce that it will be my last trip to the Lube. But I'll worry about it later. :pirate:

The parking lot has always had signs saying something like "Consumption of Alcohol is prohibited by state law"......but, like others have said, don't be a moron or taunt the police officers and you'll have an enjoyable tailgate at Bristow.

In all honesty, the police presence does usually keep a lid on obnoxious drunk people and bothering fans like me from enjoying the day and show.
On most days I say: "Wrinkles only go where the smiles have been...."
Sometimes I can only say: "There is no dumbass vaccine......"

If something or someone gets you down, just remember: "In a hundred years it all won’t matter.........."

Yeah, I'm not seeing any way to work it out. Not even hitting either NC show next month.  I have thought ahead though to next year. Perhaps Paris to make up for no Buffetting this year.

Critterville Grove.

The Surfpirate probably has tourist brochures ready. [smilie=asa.gif]

Although, wasn't VIP some other random section last year? And Thursday SP was able to talk to the lot attendants to get us under the trees in "the usual" spot, but Saturday was just ... ugh... "we don't open 'til..." and "let's circle to..."

BTW, I do realize that this year has just begun and Jimmy skeered us with busting his head in Australia and next year is a long way off, but I'll be glass-is-half-full about it and think about my Skoolie version, "She went to Paris, looking for Buffett..."

Nothing against my southern friends but I went to the first Pars show in 2007. All things being equal, I'd go to Paris again before I went to Virginia. Any day. Any year. Unfortunately I can't drive to Paris from Long Island in a little over 5 hours so all things are not equal.

I've done Buffett in Charlotte, Raleigh and Bristow in one year (2009). I think for everything I spent to go to all three venues for four concerts, it may not add up to traveling to Paris and watching one show, but it sure would cover a good portion of the total.

And yeah, I just read what I wrote. If you read it the way I re-read it, go ahead and run with it. [smilie=battingeyes.gif]

A lot of folks are demanding an answer from Jiffy Lube on FB on the tailgating issue. No response yet.

:-?
Life should NOT be a journey to the grave with the intention of arriving safely in an attractive and well preserved body, but rather to skid in sideways - Pinot Noir in one hand - chocolate in the other - body thoroughly used up, totally worn out, and screaming "WOO HOO"
