Re: Questions about JB that bother me so.....
Two questions. one as a fan, on as a person at work.
as a fan: was there a specific moment or time in your life when you realized "Hey, you know what? This whole music thing might work out."
as a person at work: "What are you drinking?"

Take me for what I am, a star newly emerging.

You just might get your chance down the road.......especially with Question #2!
It's a far cry from asking JB that question, but you just might get to ask my wife and me come mid-April.......

I think I would ask him if it was a conscious decision to become Beach Jimmy from Country Jimmy or was it simply a natural progression of his music and persona? It seems that the recent transition back to Country Jimmy was certainly a calculated choice.

Pretty sure Charleston was in front of him; you can see him in one of the videos. Thing is, once I saw the pic/video of the stage that Jim Mayer posted in his blog I think I understand how this happened. There was a gap at the front of the stage and then a strip of metal about a foot wide, making it look (especially in dim light and/or with bright lights in his eyes) as if the edge of the stage was about 2-3 feet farther away than it really was. JB fell into that gap between the stage and the metal stanchion a couple of feet away...ScarletB wrote:He probably WAS behind him, only in this case he should have been in front.rmissbrook wrote:So where was Charleston in Sydney? Agreed, that stage was not "user friendly".......SchoolGirlHeart wrote:Pretty sure Charleston was in front of him; you can see him in one of the videos. Another question: What ever happened to that old pickup truck you owned during the "early years" in Key West?

I've heard that the old pick up truck was crushed into a rectangle and someone owns the rectangle now.

Interesting, I wonder who owns that rectangle? I was trying to remember which of JB's old videos that the pickup was seen in, too.dnw wrote:Bfan53again wrote:Agreed, that stage was not "user friendly".......SchoolGirlHeart wrote:Pretty sure Charleston was in front of him; you can see him in one of the videos. The pickup can be seen in the Come Monday video. And I forget where I read it but Jimmy had thought of having the truck smashed into a cube and use it as a coffee table but it would have been too heavy to move it to wherever he was going to put it. I imagine at this time in his life it would have been in one of his Key West apartments.

Re: Questions about JB that bother me so.....
I would ask:
Whatever happened to the old blue truck that you used to drive up and down North Fork of Deep Creek Road south of Livingston?
Remember when Deep Creek flooded in 1973 and you had to help people (including me when I was 12 years old) across the bridge to get to the other side and McGuane's black lab jumping in one end of the culvert full of water and coming out the other side? Still one of the funniest things I've ever seen.

I gather that Charleston is the BIG security looking guy...ScarletB wrote:rmissbrook wrote:So where was Charleston in Sydney? He usually is right behind you.
Seriously, I would love to talk with him about his writing, album note, music lyrics, books, journals, etc.
He probably WAS behind him, only in this case he should have been in front.
Don't be too hard on him, he had a hard night that night. He spent great deal of the gig explaining to the brain-dead baboons in black T-Shirts that the Hordern Pavilion employed to stop people dancing, that sitting quietly in your seat is not the done thing at a JB gig.
He even had to explain to them to crouch down when they were in the crowd so they didn't block the view.
Ya gotta understand the Australia these days is the Nanny State and we get told what NOT to do all the time. (At a recent festival in Sydney parents were threatened by the baboons with ejection if they did not take their toddlers off their shoulders while walking around) No wonder we yearn for the carefree life promised in JB's music.

Hmm, that doesn't sound that far off from the US.
