I found ours too amidst 2 weeks of "junk mail"! :o
My mom was the mail sorter everyday, and since they were in plain unmarked envelopes, she placed them into the mailers, magazines and "current resident" pile.

This is a great idea!!! When we get closer to the 24th, PM me and I'll give you my cell #. If any of you are among the folks who loiter in the street out in front before they will let us in, call me and we may be able to park together.

Hi, I'm new to the forum. I've been a parrothead since my first concert at 18, when my father took my family to Lakewood the first year it opened. I was on the 12th row (the closest I've ever been) and I have a memory... I made signs like - Margaritaville, fins, volcano, etc -and I held up one and he said "Yea!" and pointed at me.....well, maybe. In my eyes he did. I'm now 37 and I've been to probably 15 concerts in all those years. I've made my 9 year old daughter a fan and I've even converted my husband over to a parrothead and we attend the tailgate party and concert every year since. This year I am taking my parents...we'll see how that goes. We have such a hard time finding people with our intrest. If anyone reading this is from middle Georgia let me know and we might hook up.

Anyway my reason in writing this is we want some fellow parrotheads to hang with. I am from the middle Georgia area and we are taking my newly restored 89 ford f-150 4x4 pickup to the concert (parrothead wagon). Does anyone know the best way to make a fin and tail. I was thinking styrofoam, but I don't know where to get such a big piece. We will be waiting in the park accross the street from the venue around 9-10:00. We are lawn people and we're thinking about buying a keg for the concert. I know that will fly well with you all. Look for us near the ticket gate in the main parking lot. FINS UP!!!!

You are more than welcome to hang out with us some too. My dad will be there too. I'm excited fror you that your folks want to come. I always look forward to having my dad with me in the lot and know what a thrill it is to party with your parents. Be sure to stop by. You can PM me a little closer to the concert and I will give my cell #.

Sorry I don't know how to make a fin. It does sound cool though!!!

Things to consider with a rooftop fin, it needs to attach to the top of the vehicle otherwise the wind, if present like last year, will blow the thing off. You need to transport it so it should be durable, while styrofoam may work it might get damaged in transport. You need to scale it right, a one foot fin on a SUV looks silly while an 8 foot number on a VW bug will look weird. Look at pics on line of others fins and look at actual shark fins to get an idea of what looks best, I've seen some really odd fins.....

Mine is a third generation one made from plywood, it travels well, is durable, takes paint easy, can be repainted year after year and can be secured to the roof. I used two 2x4s to lay across the roof rack of my Jeep and notched them and the fin so they interlock. Bungee cords hold in on and I don't mind driving low speeds with it up there. :pirate:
