Since the first Frisco tailgate party in 2007, we've raised over $50,000 for charitable causes.

Donating to other charities is great, and we've done a lot of good that way. The real blessing is that we've also been able to help a few individuals in need.
You can read their stories in the "Who We've Helped" section of the PTM website.

With that focus in mind, the causes we are supporting this year include the following;
Michael French
Terry Mathews (East Texas Parrothead)
Jonathan's Place shelter for abused children
National Breast Cancer Foundation
Why Me support center for families dealing with childhood cancer

We will consider other suggestions if you have them. The final distribution will be determined by a committee once the final proceeds are known.

Michael French is a 12 year old boy who was diagnosed with Lymphoblastic Lymphoma in June of 2005. He went into remission until September of 2010 when he was diagnosed with Leukemia. He has been at Cook Children's Hospital in Fort Worth since January 2011, when he was worked up for a bone marrow transplant. You can learn more about his story here; http://www.caringbridge.org/visit/michaelfrench

Terry Mathews has been involved with Parties That Matter since well before its inception in 2009. She was diagnosed with breast cancer in early 2010, and suffered terribly through surgery and radiation. The uncovered portions of the medical costs wiped out her 401k and savings, but she never once complained or asked for help. You can read more about her story here; http://www.myssnews.com/blogs/theres-so ... here-.html

The news is ....

Jimmy's people have agreed to donate two tickets to the Frisco Show to Michael French and his mama ...

Our job is ...

to keep sending phin power to Michael so he'll be strong enough to come to the tailgate and go to the show.

So ... my Frisco Feeding Frenzy peeps ... I know there's a lot of need out there, but I also know we've got enough phin power to crank it up a notch for such a brave, brave kid and his incredible mom.

Just to clear things up, we still need someone to run the auction. I just cannot handle it this year. I have some family issues that will prevent me from devoting the time needed to do a good job. Loss of loved ones seems to be hitting too many of us and all at the same time. Our family knew this loss was coming (a very close family member leaving children behind), but we still weren't ready; just found out the end is expected tonight. I hope you all understand. I'll still be at the tailgate and I plan to try to do my daily cheerleading, but I'm just not up to a task that needs to be started soon.

Please, won't someone volunteer to organize the auction? There are a lot of people who will help and it sure would be nice to have one less thing for Mr Play to worry about. The auction raises a lot of money for our charities. And, to borrow from ETP, "It feels good to do good."

Michelle and I had already spoken about this. Now to further clarify, if we can get a show of fins about how many are willing to "help" then perhaps we can delegate jobs and actually run the thing without any of us missing out on the fun. This might even need a separate, private?, thread.
Michelle, hope your family member sails on peacefully and remember to breathe. I'm living with a terminal illness and I hope and pray that family and friends can release me peacefully.

Hmm, I might consider being a volunteer for the dunk tank. It will help charities, and since it will probably be hot, cool me off.

Btw, I filled out the registration form this morning. Do I wait to get the instruction e-mail before making the registration payment and shirt payment?

On the form you indicated you wanted to use Paypal, so you can pay online whenever you are ready. The instruction email is really just for people wanting to mail a check. Thanks!

Oh, I love the dunk shirt! I so wish I could come down there! I'd volunteer in a heartbeat! Aaaah!

*plots on how to get out of work and all that*

Incidentally, I will be donating shortly, just in case I make it down, and because I'm so proud to be a part of the good work done here!

FFF FTW!

I'm trying to decide if I should stay at the Comfort Suites for the concert...it is really pricey but I have a reservation if I want it. Is it worth it or no?

Thanks for any insight!

It is very convenient……the year we stayed there we were lucky enough to get our reservations in before they gouged the prices.
We love staying in the camper in the parking lot and Comfort is the next best thing. We had friends that stayed farther away and they were able to get a cab fine but I do not know if that is always the case.
