it is toasty outside to say the least

Couldn't sleep last night, ended up just giving up and getting up at 4:30 so I'll be exhausted by the time we get home in the wee hours of tomorrow morning (I love teetering on the Thin Line between one night and the next morning!)
Safe travels to all and hopefully we will see you during some point in the tailgate. We are heading out a bit later planning to be near the park and ride by 2 p.m. We figure we will end up in the strip mall area across the street since the Park and Ride will most likely be full.

Same to you! Looks like we'll be arriving about the same time, wouldn't it be nice if they opened the gates for us? We could be the first ones in!

Holy freaking hotness. It's already feeling like 100 out. I'm hoping it slows down, but right now it's been jumping 10 degrees every hour (felt like 90 at 9am). We're not set to meet people until 3pm. So we'll see if we're bumping that.
I was just outside in the shade for 30 minutes painting the car and I'm dripping, soaking wet. Be safe all.....I can already feel a headache setting in. UGH. Time to start the water chugging.

Headaches are the first signs of dehydration. We are bringing frozen water bottles but it stinks that you can't take them in with you. I wonder how many will be dropping like flies due to the heat?

When I get into the venue tonight I will be buying a large soda, but asking them to just fill that sucker up with ice. They probably won't oblige but it will be worth a try.

Deep Breath! We can do this folks! I know we can.
Who'd have thought the Michigan show would be the hottest of the year????
I'm getting my stuff together right now. Didn't bake cookies yesterday.
Looks like just the one batch of cookies and some of my homemade salsa and BT chips.
And of course water!!!!
See everyone soon!

Buy one of the lemonades as soon as you go in. Also they have usually have vendors selling the lemonade right in the stands and I assume lawn as well.

I may bring a few drinks but that's about it. Alcohol is just not good for you when it is this hot. I am bringing my 16 y.o. daughter and I want her to have an awesome experience but I don't think we will be hanging out in the hot, asphalt covered parking lot for too long. See ya there!!!

A great time at Pine Knob, as usual. We were able to set up in the shade and had a nice breeze. Parking lot was where the heat was, we took a 15 minute walk around and got out of there. Once the sun set it was a beautiful night for a show.
Thanks to all our friends from Carolina, New York, Canada, the Detroit area and all over Michigan for making the tailgate such a success! Can't wait to do it again!

Thank you for the great set up! We had the "best seats in (near) the parking lot" Tom and I walked right to the canopy...no wandering/searching. It was actually really pleasant under the shade of those maple trees. And there WAS a good breeze. Food was fantastic. Loved the chicken tacos!
Really enjoyed the show. We had closer than ever seats and actually could see expressions on faces and what was happening on stage without the screens. At one point Jimmy took a camera from someone in the crowd and ran around the stage taking pictures with it.
No one sat (stood) in the seats right in front of us. I noticed halfway through the show that they had a sign on them about being reserved for "medical staff". This provided us with a great view for most of the show. Near the end, some squatters arrived, but we were still able to see.
Ralph still wasn't there.

Mr Lovell and Robert did some of the percussion during the show.
We had a wonderful time and it was sooo good to see everyone again! See ya next year!

Fine time at "The Knob" again yesterday. Pretty much nailed the gate opening time & cruised right in. Didn't make it to the Park n Ride & Didn't bump into any of the peeps other than Tangobutt (Mary) & PetalMel (Melissa).
Gotta say that Mel & her crew saved the day with their pickup truck pool complete with shade canopy. Cooooool!!!!!

Felt so great had to do a double dip even though it meant heading into the venue with soggy swim trunks. Thanks for the ritas!
Have never seen the "oasis" as packed so soon as it was yesterday. Mucho canopies set up on the lot.......with nobody home! Unfortunately due to the heat didn't seem like as many pholks were out cavorting around, & the crowd seemed to be a bit late arriving. But all in all everybody seemed to combat the heat pretty damn well. Beer/Water/Beer/Water/Rita/Beer/Water/Beer/Water/Beer/Jello Shots/Rita/Rita rotation seemed to work. I guess
safety did come phrist!!
Would grade the setlist in the B/B- range. I like Wino & I Know as an opener. That said the show seems to lose a bit of steam with Ragtop, Lizard & Grapefruit all back to back to back. The duo of Mac & Jimmy going on Gods Own Drunk & It's My Job is a highlight. Loved Shadirah's Use Me. Said once, said it a million...RETIRE WDWGD&S! Golden finale with Growing Older....!
Have been pleased with the show closers that Jimmy has provided us with over the years & nice for him to keep rotating it & not making it stale.
Didn't get the "See you next year" from Jimmy......of course we know that's to be taken with a grain of Salt..Salt...Salt anyway.
HOPE to see you guys next year though.
edit...I DID see Parrothead Red at the end of the show, although I have serious doubts if he'll remember seeing me.

Anyway, if it comes back to you It was cool meeting you Red!
Enjoy Chi-Town!

It was definitely fun seeing you again, Ken

We didn't meander much at all due to the heat and frankly, none of us wanted to get out of the pool
We also had good seats, not as good as Nutmeg, but it was really neat to finally be able to watch the show without using the big screen. I thought the set list was really good and kinda liked hearing WDWGDAS since that hasn't been played in a while
Key liming, was that you on the big screen??? I immediately thought of you when Carmen was shown

Very awesome and sorry you didn't find our pool

We usually park in VIP because we have a handicapped sticker for my hubby's back. That way the walk to and from isn't too bad.
We left out after Fins and enjoyed the encores from the parking lot in the cool breeze. A few folks near us said they enjoyed the entire concert from their canopy which would be fun, but I would still miss seeing the stage and everyone.
Yep, another fine concert and day in spite of the heat. Now to unpack.....wait a minute.....Chicago is tomorrow. I'm already packed....tickets are available.... hmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm

Road trip anyone??

Sounds interesting, but, Used my get out & see Jimmy card last night. Dear wife would frown if I invested anymore in the JB Retirement fund this year although if you guys take that truck pool I may follow you anywhere!.
Maybe come August she won't notice if I sneak off to the Nati though?

Great day and night, everyone! Nice meeting the phine pholks we did. Our years as dog show people really paid off with our setup (polypropylene ex mat on ground to deflect heat with poured out sand bags on top and a kiddie pool full of spring water bottles for anyone to grab) and the heat wasn't as bad as we expected...but we are better prepared than most- we live on a small farm and are outside all summer, no matter the weather...and our house is minimally air conditioned and we
both work at home during summer.
The tree set up in the VIP lot was terrific and the breeze up in Clarkston was so nice! We don't get that much down in the valley! It was like being up north for us.
Drank a lot of water, stood in the big pool someone else brought and didn't eat much, as expected. Just cherries and a couple chips.
Glad we could provide all my own recipe sugar free boat drinks for you guys! They were all gone from the cooler by the time we went into the show!
It was, as always, nice to see the show stark raving sober!
Hope to see you all next time.

Just getting home now after camping out with the parrothead club after the show. It's raining...so I don't have to feel too guilty about not unloading all the paraphernalia out of the car.
I'm beat!! Hard work being a parrothead!
Had a great time, nobody died and no one ended up in jail. It's all good!!
PetalMel wrote:

Yes, that was me.

Did I look O.K.?
All these years of Buffett concerts, I'm finally on Parrotvision and don't even get to see it.

I didn't have a ticket this year...just came for the tailagate.
