Thanks to Miwreckdiver and to Chippewa for hooking me up with tickets. Scott was even nice enough to wait for me before going in. This was the lastest I ever arrived at a show, the captain wouldnt let me off the boat early like he said he would.
I didnt listen to any of the shows or read the threads before hand so the setlist was a big surprise for me. Loved Wino as a opener. As dr. c said the rest was somewhat of a let down only in that they crowd didnt seem to into it with all the oldies but for real parrotheads i thought it was a very good one.
First show in a long time that I was pretty much sober for. Made for some good people watching.
I thought Mac killed it yesterday with Its my Job and Back where I come from.
The crowd overall definitely was more subdued than normal with the heat and late arrivals but overall I would give it a B+. Come back next year.
ps loved the video of charlie gantt catching the touchdown against Notre Dame. For more Buffett and MSU news head over to the Buffett discussion threads right now.

They'll probably play our video lots of times at the Margaritaville Restaurants all over the country! Can't believe the Bruce Shark mobile didn't get in!

I'm beat!! Hard work being a parrothead!
Had a great time, nobody died and no one ended up in jail. It's all good!!

Key liming, was that you on the big screen??? ??
Yes, that was me.

Did I look O.K.?
All these years of Buffett concerts, I'm finally on Parrotvision and don't even get to see it.

I didn't have a ticket this year...just came for the tailagate.

Thanks to everyone for making it another successful Buffett show!!!! Detroit friends, many, many thanks for including us as always
About 3 pm we turned the truck on to see what the temp was in the lot and it said
113
.Also keep in mind that is without the humidity!!!
To the "grassy knoll" we say grassy a$$. It was a true haven to camp out in.
Good to see old and new phriends.
A huge shout out the the people beside Captain Morgan with the pool full of ice. It was amazing especially after walking to and from the truck without my flip flops on
Loved the closing ...... not fond of a few of the middle parts, but I truly look forward to doing it again next year ( please don't let the last word I heard Jimmy sing mean anything.)

Once again, an excellent Buffett day. Doesn't matter what venue I get myself to, I always seem to have an awesome time!!
Thanks to Mr. & Mrs. Chippewa for picking the great tailgate spot!! Not sure we survive the heat if we were on the blacktop. Great food too!! Say hi to all the girls for me!! Thanks to Lori and Gary for chasing away the parking lot guys so I could park with you all!! Great setup at the parknride by the Detroit PHC. Nice to see some new and old friends there as well!! Thanks to Marty and Mo for being there nice and early so we could party all day!! Can't do that unless you start in the morning!! Love the Cannonball Run moment as we moved to Pine Knob!!
Looks like Pine Knob will be a regular stop from now on!! Sorry it took so long to get there!!

But you survived the trek!
Shortly after arriving I was thinking about looking for some flip flops and Googling instructions for their use, but as shadows began to create a comfortable path from the van to the knoll I realized that such drastic measures were'nt needed at all.
Good for you Caly!

I thought nothing of it when I told people I was going to the show despite the rest of the family being out of town, but the expressions on their faces made me realize that going solo to a concert and all day tailgate is not neccesarily what "average" folks consider "normal".
I guess they just didn't understand that my BN family was going to make me feel right at home! Sure I missed my wife, and the gang missed out on her gumbo, but where else in the world could someone hang out and be amongst so many Phriends and never feel lonely.
Of COURSE I had fun!

Oh yeah, I know just how you feel: I've been to about as many concerts solo as with a "date" (husband, daughter, brother, friend) and I maybe enjoy the solo ones more....

So like since Chip was only two cars behind me in the traffic getting in, and I saw Caly before even getting a chance to park, I never even felt like I went solo. Like tweo years ago when you stayed with us, you just had a bunch of "dates", you were'nt really alone!
Threads gonna die soon, so good point for a hijack........
leaving for Oshkosh at 4:00 a.m Sunday, picking up Sam in Milwaukee where he will be returning from 10 days in the Middle East, and Isaac will jump-seat to Appleton. Diane has a chance to fly-in in the Turbine Goose, but might not be able to if it conflicts with her charity bike event. Including the Goose info makes this BN eligible despite the hijack!
Maybe it will be moved to Jimmy's Boats and Planes section. PMs are more boring anyways, this makes it more FB like.

Have a great time in OshKosh, maybe one year we'll meet up there, although another Buffett concert is more likely.

Does Jimmy still do Alpine Valley? A few years ago EAA/Jimmy lined up really nice. I even played the show live on my Sirius boombox for the camping crowd, and they loved it! Laura just might get a gig that provides parent privelages, and you can then fly all over at minimal cost (but maximum hassle...diane has been shut out of every one she tried so far, and spent the whole day in the airport waiting for a standby slot. She's stuck in Albany New York right now and waiting for the next flight hoping for the best. Parent standby is pretty bad, lowest priority on the list. Anyone higher (employee or pilot) can bump you out seconds before boarding.

July 21, 2012 is a Saturday, works for me. We can just keep this thread going.
Though I didn't hear Jimmy say "see you next year" like he has at other venues
let the rumors begin....
