I never left, Ellen. I just haven't been posting as much due to increased work demands. During August & September, I'll probably be posting even less-lots of out of town trips coming up for me, courtesy of my boss.
But I'll never leave here. That would make too many people happy. I'd rather stick around and p|ss them off.
Anyone else going to the Cubs game on Friday?
I don't know. But I am coming with a friend from here who is in our P.H. club, and when I told him I was going to the game with you & suggested he come along, he said he may just try for a game ticket at the box office on the day of the game. He said if he's NOT able to get a ticket, he'll just watch the game on TV from one of the bars in the area, which, knowing him, is a very distinct possibility. (PROBABILITY). (Most likely it'll be Murphy's Bleachers or Sluggers).
Still looking for a concert ticket, though I have a major conflict that day--a memorial in South Bend for a college friend of mine--got to figure out what I am going to do about all of this!
Well, the concert is at 8:00 PM, wouldn't the memorial be over with by then? It just wouldn't be the same without you in the parking lot, but, of course, everybody would understand if your friend's services kept you from attending.

Also Randy (my friend) and I are talking about going to Margaritaville on Sunday and to see OD TAPO IMI. (Both at Navy Pier).
Would you be up for that?

Reports say that Wrigley attendance is down an average of 5000 per game so he will definitely be able to get a ticket

The memorial is at 2:00 so I could get back in time for the concert, but temotionally that would be a tough transition--will have to see--I saw Warren and hi s wife in February, just a few weeks after the diagnosis, and had a good visit. Haven't seen his mother since I was in his wedding in 1977. May skip it, and go see his wife (who I also went to college with) some other time.

As for Sunday---absolutely!

Why is attendance down? Because they're playing such GREAT baseball?

Do what you think you have to do, and if your emotions won't permit you to attend the concert, that's just how it'll have to be. You're right, it WOULD be a tough transition.
As for Sunday---absolutely!
So we'd at least have THAT to look forward to.

Yeah, I am sure the attendance has to do with their play, which is interesting since they base their attendance numbers on sales rather than who shows up. I would think the awful spring weather also has been a factor.

In the end, I will probably be at the concert, but I have to talk to Warren's wife before I make a final decision.

Not crazy about navy Pier, but that should be fun!

Just going to be me and my bride this year...we can only get to 1 show this year so we are going to fly solo so we can have more fun!

Need to start working on my modifications to the gas powered blender! Last year the plate the blender is mounted on was way too thin last year. So I had a new heavier plate cut to make it more stable. Called in a favor to my friends who have access to a laser so it has nice clean edges and it should turn out pretty good! Anyone have any ideas for what color to paint it? I was thinking John Deere green and yellow...If I go with a PH theme what would you suggest?
Do you have relatively easy plans for such a contraption that you would be willing to share?
I used this link as my guide...http://www.instructables.com/id/Gas-Powered-Blender/. As you can see by my proile pic, I mounted mine on a sheet of steel. I had legs for it but the steel was too thin. I had a new plate cut and I will be mounting it to the new plate soon and using the legs to give it a lot more stability. It all depends on the type of week eater you have, but the website gives pretty good ideas of how to get started. The biggest hurdle was the link between the blender and the weed eater. I had a friend in a machine shop fabricate me a custom shaft by extending the shaft from the blender. I used an Oester blender with a glass jar. Oester has an easier setup for this type of application, it is driven by a square metal drive instead of the plastic or rubber drives. I will post more pics as I get time to work on this...been a really busy summer so far and there is no end in sight! But I will be in Jamaica in just over 19 days!

Looks like you are right, though they have it listed as Sunday July 23rd, but they are in Oak Park on Sunday, July 24th.

Dave--no planning has been done, but we should start thinking about it. I have Wrigley tickets on Friday afternoon, but am open to things at other times

Ugh, we went to St Louis so I just don't know if we are going to make it this year to Chicago..........but I do have hotel reservations just in case.

We are talking about a Navy Pier trip but not sure it will coincide with the concert.

Not listed on his website, but I hear Mac will be playing the Chicago Margaritaville the night before the Toyota Park show.

Greetings from the Dakota's. Normally our group attends Alpine but due to some conflicts we are making the road trip to Chicago. Since we are not taking the party bus we will be limited on our supplies that we would normally bring. I am looking for some info on any tailgating options that could accomodate us 6 this year. Any ideas anyone?

Thanks!

If the Boat Drunks are going to be in town, there's an excellent chance that a few of the Coral Reefers will be sitting in with them, but the Boat Drunks are an excellent band on their own, and a group of some really great guys.
If they're indeed playing at Margaritaville, I'll be there with or without the Coral Reefers joining them.

As for Sunday evening, I'll be going to see OD TAPO IMI no matter where they're playing.
Anybody who hasn't heard this steel drum band should really make an effort to do so.
And for those who don't know, "OD TAPO IMI" is an acronym for "Oil Drums That Are Pounded Out Into Musical Instruments." Trust me, you won't be disappointed. Same with the Boat Drunks, one of the best Buffett tribute bands in the business.

Margaritaville in Key West had those glasses last year during MOTM, but I'm sure the other Margaritavilles had them also.

The Margaritaville in Chicago had those very same glasses on Monday.
And since they've been open barely over 48 hours, I think it's a safe bet that they still do have them, and will for a while.
