Rush is coming to Baltimore on April 22nd at First Mariner. Tickets already on sale.
Yes, Geddy has lost the really high range but instrumentally, they are so tight. It's awesome.

The sad thing is, I saw KISS, Peter Frampton, Elton, Black Sabbath, Emerson, Lake and Palmer, Alice Cooper, Eagles, Aerosmith, Ted Nugent, Boston, Doobie Brothers, Blue Oyster Cult, Sammy Hagar (in a garage band in Redlands, CA) but vaguely remember them. It was the 70's, Southern CA. Need I say more?

I walked out on the only time I had that chance. It was in a small venue and it was excruciatingly loud.
I did get to see him on his last concert tour though.
The Monkees

i was super crazy about them and would love to have seen them live.
Nutmeg, you might like to know that The Monkees are touring this year...

Speaking of Sammy, he's got some pretty interesting things to say about Eddie Van Halen in his new book. On the one hand he doesn't rule out a possible reunion with VH sometime in the future while on the other he refers to Ed as a "fruitcake". In case you haven't seen it yet,
Rolling Stone has a few
excerpts on their website.

Thanks for the link! Great pictures, although I swear Eddie and Valerie looked more like brother and sister, than a married coupled.

Thanks for the pics! I am stunned at how old Eddie looks. I am a bigger fan of the Sammy days of VH. I really couldn't stand DLR.

Agreed! And I had no clue part of his tongue was cut out!

I knew he had cancer, but I had forgotten what kind. Isn't that the reason they had to delay a tour? I heard that when the post Sammy tour stopped in NH, that the sound was horrible. Still not sure if it was due to DLR or the soundboard guy.

I saw Kiss when I was wicked young (thanks for corrupting me before I was a teenager, Gram!). I think it was a great show, but I wish I was a little older to appreciate it more. But I did have awesome seats, and still can picture Peter Criss singing Beth.

Still prefer Dave to Sammy. I like some of the stuff from the Sammy years but far too much of it bordered on Journey-like power balladry for my tastes.
I believe one of the delays on the last tour was because of Edward's alcoholism. If I'm not mistaken, that was mentioned in the book excerpt at
Rolling Stone.
On the Kiss tip, I saw them during the tour for
Rock n' Roll Over when they were still using the set from the
Destroyer tour. It still stands as one of my favorite concert memories of all time but mainly based on the spectacle of it all. BTW, they placed 10th in
Rolling Stone's current readers poll for
best live acts ever. They were a great live band but they definitely wouldn't make my top ten list.

I know I'll regret it if I miss this show, but we'll be out of town.

Stevie Ray Vaughn. Had a chance to see him in Boston about a few weeks before he died but didn't thinking that I would catch him on his next tour since I had no money.

He put on a good show, but I wouldn't put hm at #1. I find it interesting that 8 of the groups have been around forever.

I've seen 4 of the top 10 and I agree with Bruce being #1, he puts on a helluva show. I've never seen anyone play the crowd the way he does. There are 4 other bands on the list - Pink Floyd, Queen, The Dead and Kiss - that I'd only see under threat of death. And even then I might have to think about it.

I can't believe this wasn't my first thought
WOODSTOCK - I was too much of a preppy girl to have been interested when it actually happened and I kick myself now!

KISS was my first concert attended, Cheap Trick opened

I love Cheap Trick. I think it's a travesty that all these years later they're often still delegated to opening slot status. Their recent Austin City Limits appearance proves beyond a shadow of a doubt that they still have it. That can't be said about too many bands that have been around as long as they have. As Robin Zander says in their ACL interview, they don't dabble in nostalgia which immediately separates them from the pack of so many of their peers who chose instead to rest on their laurels.
I've never have been much of a Springsteen fan but I have no problem seeing him in the #1 spot as he always gives his all in concert.

My screen name is Backstreets. I happen to agree with the #1 pick.
