It was the 70's, Southern CA. Need I say more?
I saw Kiss when I was wicked young (thanks for corrupting me before I was a teenager, Gram!). I think it was a great show, but I wish I was a little older to appreciate it more. But I did have awesome seats, and still can picture Peter Criss singing Beth.
KISS was my first concert attended, Cheap Trick opened

I remember thinking,"are ALL concerts this insane?!!" 8)
Saw that tour as well!!

Wish I would have seen Yes on their "Roundabout" tour.........

In the early 70's I worked at the campus radio station and there was a sign posted on the studio console by the manager:

"Don't even think about playing "Roundabout" this shift!"

Yeah, all the DJs, myself included, loved playing that song........ :pirate:

To put a different twist on things...I am trying to think of what my favorite concert has been in my life. I have been going to concerts since I was 8, and I am now 42.

I believe one of the delays on the last tour was because of Edward's alcoholism. If I'm not mistaken, that was mentioned in the book excerpt at Rolling Stone.

On the Kiss tip, I saw them during the tour for Rock n' Roll Over when they were still using the set from the Destroyer tour. It still stands as one of my favorite concert memories of all time but mainly based on the spectacle of it all. BTW, they placed 10th in Rolling Stone's current readers poll for best live acts ever. They were a great live band but they definitely wouldn't make my top ten list.
Thanks for the link. But really, Bruce is #1?
He put on a good show, but I wouldn't put hm at #1. I find it interesting that 8 of the groups have been around forever.
My screen name is Backstreets. I happen to agree with the #1 pick.
The only time I have seen him was in Foxboro. We were waiting for the show to start and this horrible storm came through. Hail, thunder, lighting, wind...I wouldn't be surprised if there wasn't a microburst in the area. This all lead to a shortened show. Felt a tad ripped off.

I don't remember if it was the Roundabout tour but I saw Yes when I was in college, it was probably 1973. The thing I remember most about the show was the girl I was with. I miss Wendy. :(

I think the best concert I ever saw was The Concert For New York City after September 11. Yeah, there were people I didn't need to see - Jay Z, the Backdoor Boys, Five For Fighting - but the rest of the lineup was pretty good. David Bowie, Mick Jagger and Keith Richards (without the rest of the Stones), Elton John, Billy Joel, James Taylor, The Who, Eric Clapton, John Mellencamp with Kid Rock, Paul McCartney. There are probably some others I don't remember.

They're touring this year but without Jon Anderson. I'm not sure how they can even be considered Yes without him. To my knowledge they've never been fronted by another vocalist other than him.

Without Jon Anderson, I agree, not worth going to see. Rick Wakeman's son, Oliver, is now playing keyboards........

Saw the Yes "90210" tour in the early 80's (Owner of a Lonely Heart days). Good stuff!

One of my all-time faves... Yes in The Round '78, 5th Row

..talk about your "Perpetual Change"! I've seen this band at least as many times as I've seen Buffett 8)

oh, and for Tiki,
Yes recorded "Drama" and toured without Jon Anderson in '80 (memory check there) using Trevor Horn from The Buggles ("Video Killed The Radio Star"). No Rick Wakeman either, Geoff Downes filled in .....also done "in the round", and not a bad show.

Almost forgot......J. Geils Band

Their song "Centerfold" was played to death, too, but it still rocks today....... :pirate:
