Anyone have a wireless doorbell?
An organization I volunteer with is thinking about getting one for security so that we can lock the door from the outside during small group meeting but still let late comers in.
I found a portable one that looks great, but the reviews are mixed. It has volume control and an option to have it flash rather than chime. Some folks who reviewed the product had issues with reception but I am wondering if this is just a matter of operator error.
Does anyone have one that works well?

I was looking at some at Lowes or maybe it was Home Depot.
Things like that, I like to buy locally.
That way if it doesn't work, you can return it.

this is true re: take it back. but i always have a hard time deciding where the line is between 'it doesn't work' and 'the quality isn't what i expected'BahamaBreeze wrote:I was looking at some at Lowes or maybe it was Home Depot.

Re: Anyone have a wireless doorbell?
I bought one for the school I worked at to be used for the lunch volunteers.
I couldn't hear them knocking from the kitchen. We put it up high so more kids couldn't reach it.
As long as I remembered to turn it on,
it worked great.

We have one I got at Lowe's a few years ago. Works great, we can hear it all over the house and even on the back deck. All you have to do is change the batteries when it stops dinging.
It has a little button thing you put outside your front door, and a square white plastic box (that holds several D batteries), that you plug in that is about 4 inches by 6 inches. Very simple. I think it even has a switch on the back of the plug-in that you can change the sound.

sounds like that is exactly the problem those reviewers were having... 'it worked fine at first and then...'

I have a wireless doorbell in place at the Schloss Radler. Works fine, although the bell and the button are quite literally only a couple inches apart, with just the exterior wall separating them.

Re: Anyone have a wireless doorbell?
IF you are in a bulding that has multiple businesses, check to make sure no one else is using one. We used one where I work and then the office across the hall from us got one too. They are on the same frequency - so everytime their bell rings so does ours....and no you cannot change the frequency setting on the one we have
There's this one particular harbor.....

Re: Anyone have a wireless doorbell?
Does anyone else thinks it's creepy that an advertisement at the bottom of this page is for wireless doorbells?
Life should NOT be a journey to the grave with the intention of arriving safely in an attractive and well preserved body, but rather to skid in sideways - Pinot Noir in one hand - chocolate in the other - body thoroughly used up, totally worn out, and screaming "WOO HOO"

Re: Anyone have a wireless doorbell?
We had one in our other house. And similar to what Shannon said, our bell would ring when someone rang the bell at a neighbor's house. Luckily we were able to switch to another frequency, so if that might be a concern, get one that has that option. Pretty sure we got it at Home Depot.

Re: Anyone have a wireless doorbell?
I have a wireless doorbell because my house didn't have one & I work in the basement so when someone came to the door I couldn't hear them knock. I am pretty sure I got it at Radio Shack -The unit plugs into the wall so no batteries for that end but the button that you press does have a battery that needs to be replaced every so often -& apparently my neighbor had one too because I had the problem of my ringing when hers does but I think she changed something because it doesn't happen anymore.
I got the same unit for my mom in Florida & works great.

Re: Anyone have a wireless doorbell?
Or not. I have a couple of neighbors that I don't want to deal with. They push the button, I don't answer because the batteries are dead, they go away. Needless to say I LOVE mine.citcat wrote:We have one I got at Lowe's a few years ago. Works great, we can hear it all over the house and even on the back deck.
